An old shaman smoking on the porch, calling the blues down from the Siskiyous, and the Pineapple Express up through the Two Rock gap.

He/Him or She/Her depending on what tickles your fancy and mine at the time (but also respond to the more accurate its/it - always a delicious experience). I've been both depending on the particular circumstances of whichever consensual reality I'm participating in, and see no reason to choose.

"It's so weird how the Venn diagram of abusive people and traumatized people who refuse to heal is a circle"

caribouslim,

@Mage_of_Aquarius one that renders as a spiral when seen in--between. A hole in the soul will consume it whole when left unhealed - a vortex of suffering that draws in every vulnerable heart around it if left unchecked.

That being said, there are sadly plenty of abusers who haven't been traumatized, but I agree with your sentiment. There is nothing more difficult than watching someone you love refuse to heal, while they hurt everyone within arms reach to distract themselves from their own misery.

Makes me wish healing were a skill set in my particular portfolio, but self-inflicted suffering is an addiction my talents have yet to crack.

That being said, recognizing the spiritual signature and being aware of its action helps with protection and avoidance, and with proper sensitivity tuning, you can anticipate the rhythm of the waves within the vortex afflicting the individual. It's not a solution, but it can help keep you from getting hurt by its hunger.

"To those dark horses with the spirit to look up and see... a recondite family awaits." Welcome to the Jejune Institute, a mind-bending San Francisco phenomenon where 10,000 people became "inducted" without ever quite realizing what they'd signed up for. Was it a cult? Was it an elaborate game? Told from the participants’ perspectives, this film looks over the precipice at an emergent new art form where real world and fictional narratives collide, creating unforeseen and often unsettling consequences. Fusing elements of counter-culture, new religious movements and street art, this film invites viewers into a secret underground world teeming just beneath the surface of everyday life.

My daily morning tarot cards usually take on the lighter, more mundane meanings, so even when I get Death or The Tower, it's never that bad. The one I'm really afraid of in a daily pull is The Hanged Man, dude fucks with me every time. I wonder if this is the same for others?

caribouslim,

@Cat_LeFey In my experience, the Hanged Man insists on a state of upended suspension - your efforts to break free of the state are literally upended, making your efforts worse the more you try to positively affect your personal situation.

A taoist approach and a restful state have worked for me when he appears - I put off my plans, and simply focus on existing in and experiencing my current state. Remember that the Hanged Man is an allegory for Odin's time hanging from the World Tree, and represents the meditative state he had to endure to achieve his legendary wisdom. When the time comes, the noose loosens on its own, and you slip free... often whether you're ready for it to or not.

Best wishes to you, and may the Hanged Man's noose slip soon.

caribouslim,

@Cat_LeFey Thank you, likewise with your writing talent, and well met indeed. It's a pleasure to be able to discuss the cards with another practitioner (so please forgive me if I get verbose). I've always been fascinated by the Tarot, but somewhat wary of certain decks potential to warp the end result after some unexpected experiences with the Crowley deck.

As a very wise woman once told me at midnight, the fortune that's told to you is put in place by the forces you ask about it. It's not just reflective of your place at the time of the casting, it's generative.

In the case of the Crowley deck (which is extremely powerful, and thus the attraction for most), enough of Crowley's personality is embedded to make it very good at breaking open the doors to perception, but not so great at protecting you from what comes through once they're open.

I never really knew why my readings with that deck led to multiple unexplained phenomena until I learned the story of the Boleskin House and his attempt to complete the ritual of the Book of Abramelin. When I read the article below it all clicked - Crowley was powerful, but also very sloppy when it came to spiritual protection and putting his toys back when he was done playing with them. His deck seems to act the same way - a tendency towards darker readings, that often become vividly accurate in the most destructively random ways possible.

Link to the story if you haven't heard it before:

I've been looking for a suitable deck - something with more juice than the traditional Venetian spread - do you have any good recommendations?

The Last Temptation of Christ is a 1988 epic religious drama film directed by Martin Scorsese. Written by Paul Schrader with uncredited rewrites from Scorsese and Jay Cocks, it is an adaptation of Nikos Kazantzakis' controversial 1955 novel of the same name. caribouslim,

@Hotrod_Jesus So, you know what you did wrong, right? The fourth temptation, after the flame - when the satan / djinn appeared as a tree. You crossed over your protective circle to eat the fruit, leaving yourself open to the djinn's possession, and ended up with a mouth full of blood and a date on the cross. The first rule of ritual magick club is we don't cross the white line.

Remember folks, when on a vision quest, protection should always be your first consideration. Never break your protective circle, and for chrissake never ever eat anything presented by otherworldly beings. There's a long tradition of would be visionaries lost when they decided it would be fun to go party with the pixies and hit the buffet.

caribouslim,

@Mage_of_Aquarius An excellent McKenna. I commend your talent. In reading your attached manifesto, this quote in particular stood out to me:

Fascists will not hesitate to use machine intelligence to continue to try to eliminate us. Becoming early adopters of artificial intelligence is the only way to stand a chance at this game.

I absolutely agree with you. IBM's tabulation machines were what allowed the Holocaust to be run with such brutal efficiency, and China is already using AI to reinforce their surveillance state.

As such, your description of AGI piqued my interest. I'm curious if AGI is an actual project, an emanation of DeepFate, or a theoretical concept looking for development input. If you have the time and inclination, I'd love more information. Thanks for the excellent and intriguing posts (and that artwork is absolutely stunning btw).
