Costing but a few dozen coins, these enchanted boxes can pull whispers out of the aether. https://cromwell-intl.com/open-source/raspberry-pi/sdr-getting-started.html?s=mc

Sure wish I did not have to read to the end of your write up to discover that it doesn't cover the 80m,40m,20m,17m amateur radio bands. Nice write up though.

I looked on WebSDR.org and found a great online (and free) SDR receiver for Amateur Bands:

Made some progress the last couple of days with the Weather Station UI

The current metrics are now a nice column on the left, and the pressure gauge is in a barometer style.

All currently being served from a 5B - the final live one will run on a 4B or even a 3B

The dev version on the 5B is here https://weather.area51.dev/dash/home

Oh and the entire page is all under 50K in size - K not Meg!

@peter what are you using for the data source(s)?

This looks very nice. Git repo available?

I found out that the best solution for flaky, dropping wifi on a Raspberry Pi is forcing it to use 2.4GHz wifi. My router was doing this magic with both 5GHz and 2.4GHz wifi sharing the same SSID and leaving the choice of band to the device. The Pi was choosing the 5GHz and dropping it often. I made separate SSIDs for 5 and 2.4 and connected the Pi to the 2.4GHz band and the wifi is now rock stable. Just a little tip for you out there.

@stfn I’ve been running separate SSIDs forever, and running a 24/7 robot on the 2.4GHz WiFi still see weird self correcting dropouts every few months. I even broke out the 2.4GHz band to a separate WiFi router which improved reliability but still see my robot complaining occasionally, just less often. (Carl flashes a yellow LED and logs when he is “feeling isolated/lonely”)

Python3 integer addition 0.000657ms - 3.8x faster than Pi4

Four CPU 100% Stress for 5 minutes: No throttling, 70.3C temp

( containerized) executes 3x faster than Pi4

@stfn I saw your great BOINC tests. I have had a lowly Pi3B running Einstein for so long I don't remember when - completed 312,733 packets so far.

@stfn yes - Got it from these folks in 2017:

@stfn Too many "DeskPi"s now to be worried about power failure killing one, but back then it was pretty dear to me. I had one in my robot and the one on my desk hoping they would not fail.
