I have a minor domestic annoyance that I’d like to improve.

Innovative solutions welcome.

We have glass soap/gel dispensers in the bathrooms.

I bought a 5L thing of hand gel ages ago.

The necks of the dispensers are very small. The gel is, naturally, quite. viscous.

It’s impossible to pour from one to the other.

I can use a tiny funnel to do about 30ml at a time, but it’s slow.

Or I can pour into a jug and very slowly drizzle it in. This requires a steady hand and patience.

I know I come across as a moaning Minnie, all "woe is me, I have such a hard life". I know my situation with Best Beloved isn’t actually all that onerous. There are people out there who care for someone and have a much harder life than me.

I’m just having trouble dealing with it. It’s all happening rather too quickly, with little time to adjust. The old mental health, ropey at the best of times, is taking a proper battering. Your patience and support means a lot to me.

Audiophile chums: a question if I may.

Best Beloved and I listen to podcasts together. To do that, I use my phone with a Y-splitter to stereo jacks. Best Beloved is deaf, so he likes lots of volume set on the phone, while I use headphones with an inline volume control.

I want a new set of over-ear 'phones with inline volume control. It’s hard sifting out things meant for taking phone calls or controlling the phone. Any pointers, please?

Happy to clarify if I’m not clear.

Was a little nervous about changing some code in our new test framework.

It wasn’t necessary, but was was a bit nicer. Mostly cosmetic, much more pythonic. Added a bit of readability/privacy, but it’s unlikely to be used much in new places.

I figured I’d just do the work and test it, stick it on a merge request and if it wasn’t approved, move on.

One of the framework engineers came over in person yesterday to say he liked it. :)
