In the 21st century people are drowning in information. Email, instant messaging, news feeds, and of course the web. A small group of developers has taken up the fight: us.

We are developing apps that tame the information flood, based on our own artificial intelligence technology. We all are Mac users by heart and are writing solely on the Mac and for macOS and iOS.

Tip of the day: When people come to from other applications with simpler interfaces, the experience can feel a bit daunting. Just like a Boeing 777 has more controls than a Piper Cub — and a lot more power — more complexity in the interface is required to handle all that power. Here are some ways to set up with a more minimal UI. https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/2021031-simplify-devonthink

DEVONthink To Go 3.7.3 is available. It lets you merge groups and tags, share groups via the Share sheet and search for aliases. A new command moves all instances of an item to the trash, and tags in the Info popover have a context menu, e.g., to reveal them. https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20230719-devonthinktogo-373-update

@jparise DEVONthink itself doesn’t look for these <link> tags. does, and other browsers do. So you’re all set, maybe we support these in a future release. Thank you for the offer and a great product! 🙏🏻

Tip of the day: For many people, tags are a useful way of segregating or creating contextual relationships between items. Some prefer a small set of broad tags, while others create deep, specific tag lists. But sometimes tags can seem to appear out of nowhere. These could come in, e.g., from the outside world through Finder tags. (…) https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20210504-avoid-overtagging-in-devonthink

@geraint Jim is not here on Mastodon, @eric (writing also here) is. Yes, the global inbox is technically a database. It all depends on how you add the files to the global inbox. The Sorter is also a drag target so you could file them directly to wherever you want them to go.

devontechnologies,
@devontechnologies@devontechnologies.com avatar

@rpallred @geraint @eric And you import the files how exactly?

devontechnologies,
@devontechnologies@devontechnologies.com avatar

@rpallred Well, you can drag them tk any other place in DEVONthink, too. Or drag them to DEVONthink’s menulet (Sorter) which opens a group selector. So you can drag them directly to their destination and don’t create more tags in the Global Inbox aling the way.
