Earlier today noticed Mail on the Mac reporting 9 messages unread when I could only see 1 in my inbox. Quit and relaunched. Force quit the app. Restarted the computer. Started rebuilding the mailbox.

Only then did I realize that I had marked one thread of 9 messages unread. 🤦

Question for the Mac hive mind: What would lead Mail drastically overstating the number of flagged messages in the left-hand rail? It's showing 265 there, but selecting all of my flagged messages and dragging them yields a count of 133.

@scottearle We’re enjoying it! It is also tremendously overwhelming at times, even for D&D aficionados like us. (As for GOTY, I really loved Spider-Man 2, and I never even got to Tears of the Kingdom, but boy, what a great year for games overall!)

Has anybody noticed that in the ~3 days since I announced I have Covid, I've been engaged online, shipping app updates, and generally kicking butt? My test line is still bright red, but I'm doing OK - probably thanks to getting EVERY vaccine, and taking Paxlovid. Science: It's more than a good idea.

Is there a bigger pool of users to attack on iOS than macOS? Unequivocally. But I do wonder how many people in the EU will be downloading and installing alternative app stores. What percentage of Mac users even activate the “App Store and identified developers" option?

Apple's scary warnings about the risks created by the adoption of these new EU measures are frankly hilarious, given that basically this exact same system—notarization, "sideloading,” alternative app stores—has been in place on the Mac for years.

@jann I don't think SIM cards play into this at all? A zero-day attack could also affect a Mac, if it's sent over iMessage. And if the person who owns an iPhone also owns a Mac, much of that data is already synced to it. 🤷
