@drewdevault Have a look at what Vesteda is offering. I’m currently renting a 130 sqm semi-detached house from them in Almere for just below 1200 a month.
@drewdevault OSDev wiki is definitely a decent collection of resources even without building a kernel in mind. There's been times that OSDev wiki has helped explain why my system was acting unusual - https://wiki.osdev.org/RSDT comes to mind. It definitely helped me respect kernel developers a lot more, and understand why linux for the longest time had issues with suspension(hibernation to windows). I am very interested in cpu schedulers and dealing with paging... it's also a topic that I deliberately avoid because it's so incredibly complicated when you get into virtual memory management, page sizes and so on... It's a curse really that I am most fascinated by some of the HARDEST parts of kernel development and at the same time stuck in that mysticism around it, hesitant to just take a dive.
@drewdevault@MadMike77 I have a dell m4800 with a haswell processor native serial port via the dell dock. I use it to play with my vt100. It’s only exposed on a certain dock but the second it’s plugged in the bios recognizes the serial port and lets me configure what setting to run it under as if it was native. Might be able to find some more modern dell machine with the old dell dock port.
@drewdevault@MadMike77 also of use is things like a parallel port and other fun things exposed by it. Seems like you already found something else but I wanted to give my two cents since I have my vt100-aa with a null modem cable working fine over serial with the dell dock.
@drewdevault
Isn't the problem that there is a conflict between Nagel's algorithm and delayed ACK?
Or maybe can you elaborate on your thought there? Like is there an obvious solution that people generally miss? Genuinely curious, I'm not a systems programming expert at all.
Wow so today I learned that egregious labor violations are utterly widespread throughout the yoga industry
A friend was describing how they "volunteer" at their local yoga studio in exchange for free classes by working 4 hour shifts at the cash register... of a for profit company... where they report to a manager... and whose owner takes regular expensive vacations and lives in a beautiful, spacious home...
Upon further research I found out that this happens at MOST OF THEM
I have now received four notices from the IRS informing me that they need 60 additional days to figure out why they overcharged me by $16,000 on my taxes, which is to say, 240 days and counting
