Spring pruning my - I hope it wasn't too much or too early, but it looked healthy, so I think it can take it.

I wired my little... don't even know exactly what they are... cypress? yesterday.

I almost broke some branches because they are sooo soft. I hope that, with a little cut past, the'll heal again.

Used silver wire because it's easier to find when it's time to remove again. And because those are not finished bonsai anyway.

It is still alive! Letting it grow this year so that it can heal its wounds, design choices come next year. But to paraphrase Peter Chen:

As long as you don't kill the tree, there are options.

Today I pinched the tips from all the branches I want to keep of my , but not from the "sacrifice" branches I want to jin later. The idea is to stimulate dense growth and ramification in the branches I want to keep, and long growth and thickening in the branches I want to jin.

Will it work? I have no idea 🙈 😅 I guess I will find out! @bonsai

Bought this beech from a batch of cheap hedge plants. It was almost 2m high, but had very low branches, so I decided to chop it above the first branch.

Will it survive? Will it backbud enough so that I can make a very small out of it? Will I be able to thicken the lower trunk more? Hope so!

@jonobie Just curious... Do you expect the affinity tools to get worse (which would be a bummer, I really like them) or do you want the compnay to stay independent?

Maybe time to look into the open source alternatives again. But last time I checkt, they were not-bad-but-not-really-a-joy-to-work-with.

Heared something today that triggered a pet peeve ("Words don't mean what they don't mean", h/t @davenicolette ), and in my someone-is-wrong-on-the-internet-moment that I'm having right now, I've got to say:

is changing the structure of a program WITHOUT changing it's behavior. If you are not feature-to-feature AND bug-to-bug compatible -> not refactoring.

Term I heard: "Refactoring to feature parity" - not wrong, but could be from the department-of-redundancy-department

@jbrains @gdinwiddie I had that problem, too. AFAIU: when you tried once and it didn't work, the non-working link can be cached. Waiting a day worked for me.
