  1. Make backups.
  2. Be vigilant of scam messages.
  3. Use a password manager.
  4. Do all updates.
  5. Use an adblocker.

As changes piled up and deploying them is more or less instant I've tagged version 0.12.0 of the Smederee! 😀 🎉

Monday Afternoon, "Operations Review Meeting".

Time to nap in front of the Zoom, because a bunch of management persons with a non-technical background will show each other snore-inducing powerpoint slides over a vidconf for 90 minutes.

Fred Whatshisname, in charge of Dunnowhatchatmacallit, relates that the number of P1 incidents for this quarter is up by 17 percent, but the TTR is down a lot, so this is good, right?

Your organisations are now shown on your user settings page and they are more easily edited. Also owners can delete organisations now. Adding administrators to an organisation is still on the todo list though. 😉

Fact: nobody cares about your „unit“ tests when the overall function of your software does not work.

You can „unitize“ your project all you want - to people using it, the whole thing is only one unit in their work.

Unit tests are economic for core components used in many places or at the very bottom of your architecture. Those are very few.

Unit tests are wasteful if they need several mockup-thingies to run (which probably only reflect the hidden assumptions already coded into the unit)..

Hab jetzt seit n paar Wochen benutzt, ausschließlich um Katzenbilder und Essensfotos vom Handy aufn Laptop zu kriegen.

Ich habe beim Einrichten alle defaults durchge-yolo-t und es scheint zu tun wie erwartet :)

Wenn ich jetzt Bilder aufm Handy lösche, werden sie zurückgesyncthingt, oder? Muss ich daher auf beiden Seiten löschen?

The BigCode project (supported by Hugging Face) created an "AI" dataset with 67 TB of code, a lot of it from GitHub users who did not agree to this. Some even claim that private repositories are included. 91 of my repositories are in it, many without an open-source license, but no private ones. They provide an opt-out link, but only for "future versions", and it simply creates an issue in a GitHub repo. 99.8 % of them are still in "open" state, dating back to March 2023.

    • FastMail (work & personal e-mail, work calendar, work storage)
    • Xero (work accounting software)
    • Simplifi (personal accounting)
    • NextCloud (self-hosted personal storage, calendar)
    • SearXNG (self-hosted [meta] search engine)

    Fahrradfahrerin, die mir im Stockdunklen, ohne Licht, entgegen der Einbahnstraße, auf dem Gehweg entgegen kommt und mich dann auch noch böse anschaut, weil ich da mit meinem Hund langgehe und wir die ganze Breite des schmalen Gehwegs einnehmen.
