It’s great to see MKBHD give no slack to trash products but I feel like “they don’t deliver on their promise” is wrong because most of the time there isn’t even a promise. Just hints and insinuations carried along by the hype.
There really is no basis for assessing something like the rabbit R1’s ability to deliver, because what does delivering look like?
The promise, the purpose, is vaporous.
“Here, see what you can do with this” is the definition of novelty
I feel like the use of computation for everything and how broken everything is becoming makes sense when you think of computation as a building material instead of a technology
@benjaoming it’s my fault, I wasn’t clear. I meant that in UX design there is a method of mapping “user stories” where you say “as an X I want Y so that Z” kind of thing. But in enterprise SaaS you’re going to be dealing with end-users who have been told “this is what we use” which doesn’t make for a flattering user story.
Incidentally, UX design has been reduced to Figma and its ways. So your understanding of what I said is also true :)
@fasterandworse In that way, Enterprise SaaS "this is what we use" becomes a lot like a naked emperor (in order to fit in, you don't object) running around in a nail-free room and smashing other things (big bloated software is often full of things that people use even though the don't solve a problem... like adding tags on Jira issues) 👯♂️️
Don't like seeing web design OGs pushing generative AI stuff. Reminds me of aging James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich telling Kirk not to do his guitar solos because the kids aren't into it.
@tante you know what I think gets in the way the most for me? It' not being too tired to stay up, it's a fear of being so focused on work that I stay up too late and ruin the next day
@fasterandworse Funny. For me it's the other way around: Wanting to do so much without having the energy for anything makes me just do random crap (watch something on Youtube, dick around on the Internet) until 1:00 am or later so I am always tired in the morning.
