I promised my roommates I wouldn't run Doom on it, but here's an idea:
The dryer has a moisture sensor, right? So it can tell how long it takes to dry a given set of clothes...

non-bluetooth wireless keyboards should be banned for environmental reasons.

a USB/BT keyboard can be reused! Clean it up and even keyboards that are 25 years old will work fine.

an RF wireless keyboard has inevitably lost the dongle and is now just taking up space in a landfill as they're no use to anyone.

Bad idea for a scifi story:
In 1860, a paranormal investigator discovers that there's a sun-worshiping cult that sacrifices a virgin to The Sun every year. It turns out last year, they messed up the ritual, and the victim escaped at the last moment.

Cue the Carrington event. A massive geomagnetic storm that caused auroras as far south as Colombia.

The investigator is then paid to infiltrate the cult and disrupt their ritual every time, as it saves Western Union a lot on electrical costs.

@vxo no, it's just a case of there not being a Mini-VGA port that they could fit on the pcb, so they used another port with enough pins that was small enough, and had a custom cable made.
