A day or two ago I was seeing a lot of mainstream news articles about the geomagnetic storm trying to drum up fear about how all our technology was going to collapse and cell phones would stop working and maybe there'd be blackouts and all sorts of other disasters. Did anything at all happen anywhere?

We have a car lease expiring soon, and I'd REALLY like to replace it with a hybrid. It's a Nissan Rogue, and we need something about that size/configuration.

  • I resent needing to own a car; Canada is far too car-centric.
  • Toyota, Kia, Honda all have decent hybrid
  • Toyota, Kia, Honda don't have any stock, and the wait times are 5-12 months

Seems like there's a missed opportunity here for someone making hybrids…

This piece about how uncompetitive US and European EVs are compared to what’s being made in China is a real wake up call to anyone not familiar with the standard of cars “over there”.

It’s like the 1970s all over again where incumbents just thought they could get away with focusing on high price, high margin big cars, ignoring what customers wanted, and ended up losing market share to better made, more affordable Japanese cars.

Perhaps I should just start a religion* around the principle of designing all aspects of life to minimize the profit your actions cause to incorporated entities

  • I would structure it this way because in the United States, doing a thing because a religion said to gives you special rights you would not get if you did the thing because you wanted to
