frickineh,

Yeah. I, unfortunately, have to work with the police on certain things, and commander is a real rank.

frickineh,

Most places allow for default judgments if one party won’t cooperate. I’ve met quite a few people who ended up going that route. Was he present at earlier hearings? That’s the only reason I can think of that a judge might hesitate, but even then, plenty of people flake on court appearances.

frickineh,

Since she also famously had an affair with Corey Lewandowski, I don’t know if her husband is the one she’d be asking.

frickineh,

I kind of did the opposite but ended up in the same place - I loved the newer Fallouts so I thought I’d give 2 a shot and combat was just so bad that I couldn’t get more than a couple of hours in. I tried it again a couple years later and same thing. I know a lot of people would riot, but I kind of wish they’d remake the exact same story/writing with modernized gameplay so I could experience it.

frickineh,

I know people say it doesn’t matter but I’m the same way with Stardew. I ended up downloading a cheat mod that lets you freeze time because I realized it’s supposed to be a nice, relaxing game, and I wasn’t feeling that way. I don’t use the freeze much, but it lets me enjoy the game without stressing.

Can we all agree that whatever version of predictive text we have nowadays is crap, and has been for a long time?

I’m sick of random capitalisations mid sentence. I’m sick of common words being replaced by less common ones or even downright nonsense. I’m sick of it taking three attempts to successfully get the word I want. I swear it’s been like this for five years or more. Can we have a better version yet, or at least the old one...

frickineh,

I tried to swipe some word earlier and it decided what really wanted to say was ConocoPhillips. Why the fuck is that even in the dictionary in my phone? When would I ever want to say that?

frickineh,

I had basically this exact conversation with my supervisor last week. She was like, “I like to have ___ done by Thursdays,” because I was sick on Thursday and said I’d do it first thing Friday morning. So I said, “Ok, so is the deadline for this task Thursdays then? Because that’s never been communicated to me.” And she said, “Well, I like to have it done by Thursdays.” Holy fuck, JUST TELL ME HOW MANY PIECES OF FLAIR I NEED.

Anyway, I’m looking for a new job because I can’t work in a place that wants to penalize people for not living up to expectations they didn’t know existed. My entire review (first one in 2 1/2 years) was a series of “Remember this thing from months ago? Well we didn’t like how you did that but we never said anything and just sat on it until now.” Cool, thanks for setting me up to fail, appreciate that.

frickineh,

Exactly. I’ve always known my boss was great at most of her job but not very good at people management (because I don’t think she particularly wants to do it), but being blindsided with things it’s too late to even address was so demoralizing. What the heck am I supposed to do about a phone call from December about an issue that’s been long since resolved?

frickineh,

Well, if I were a betting woman, I’d say your name isn’t going to be remembered at all, so you can probably safely stop using that as an excuse for apathy.

frickineh,

Leaving aside the fact that you seem to think historians will care about individual voters, this election is, unfortunately, about more than Israel. It’s also about LGBTQ+ people, women, the environment, Ukraine, and not having a rapist thief who has admitted to ambitions of dictatorship in office. So if voting makes you complicit in every single thing a politician does, then sitting idly by and not caring if Trump wins would put a lot of blood on your hands, in the US and abroad, including in Gaza. Your smug superiority does nothing to protect those people and may harm a lot of others.

frickineh,

What exactly do you need to “be on board” with? Not being a raging douche?

frickineh,

Ohhh, you could’ve just said you’re a total moron in your first comment. Or a pretty pathetic troll, either way. Would’ve saved everyone a lot of effort.

frickineh,

I don’t actually think he cares at all, at least not personally. I think he sees it as an effective way to divide the American public and win political points depending on what he does and when, but I would be shocked if he had genuine moral opposition. Because that would require him to have genuine moral stances, and I think his only strong feelings in his entire life have been about getting and holding on to power.

frickineh,

I really don’t, at least not because of any strong moral convictions. I believe he cared a lot about abortion as a means to an end, though.

frickineh,

Well, they think the Magna Carta is relevant to a lot of things in the US in 2024, so I guess that all tracks.

frickineh,

I’m starting a job search today and dreading it. There are only like 5 positions open right now that fit with my skills and also pay even close to a livable amount of money, so that’s not great. Deceased sounds like a great opportunity at this point - no commute and you don’t need a living wage if you’re not living.

frickineh,

The raw milk people are wild to me, because raw milk is disgusting even without the bird flu, and they’re so committed to it. The more people point out that it’s gross and unsafe, the more they want it. Drinking pus to own the libs, I guess?

frickineh,

My dog is like that. She lays in my spot in the bed until I’m ready to get in, and then I tell her “scooch” and she moves to her spot. When we cuddle in the morning, she knows that, “ok/alright,” means it’s time to get up and go pee.

frickineh,

I got my dog one because she loved being covered by blankets, and she did the same thing. And then insisted on having a blanket over her anyway. On the plus side, she loved the bed in her own way.

frickineh,

Two weeks before the party, I say I’m totally in and excited, and then the day of, I remember I don’t want to do that and say I’m pretty sure I’m getting sick. Then B.

frickineh,

Oh I cry reading stuff all the time. I read a lot of historical queer fiction because I’m a masochist, and then I cry because it was so unfair.

frickineh,

Kind of. TSA Precheck is <$100 for 5 years, so it’s significantly cheaper. That amount is a lot more accessible to average travelers than CLEAR.

frickineh,

No. Research tends to show that all patients have better outcomes with female doctors. It’s not the knowledge of different conditions that’s the issue, it’s the willingness to listen to patients.

On the personal side, my mom has been a nurse for 30 years and a ton of the male doctors she’s worked with are some of the most conceited, dismissive assholes she’s ever met (and she was a paralegal in her previous career, so that’s saying something). They’ve been treated like gods for so long that they can’t imagine that they could ever be wrong. She had to stop one of them from giving a patient meds that they were allergic to not too long ago, and the doctor had the nerve to get shitty with her for, I guess, daring to question him.

frickineh,

Schitt’s Creek is the same way. The first season isn’t bad, it’s just not great. Both shows were finding their footing, and then got super good but once they did.

frickineh,

American food tends to be way sweeter than anywhere else I’ve ever been, so yeah, probably cultural.
