Elon Musk’s complaints about the Anti-Defamation League are the latest manifestation of a grudge of activists that date back to his earliest days running the company, according to the new Isaacson biography. https://www.platformer.news/p/nine-wild-details-from-the-new-elon

Mozilla's new report on the data privacy of modern cars is nightmare fuel. Enshittification has definitely hit the car industry: https://foundation.mozilla.org/en/privacynotincluded/articles/its-official-cars-are-the-worst-product-category-we-have-ever-reviewed-for-privacy/

As a compromise for my local dns issues, for now I just created a little web page with links to all my services using the IP address.

It's also acting as a way to visually organize the network. If any of those "entertainment" items go down I'm in a heap of trouble with the spouse.

Reading up on dnsmasq, next weekend's project!

Still annoyed with my Orbi router not allowing "server.local" mappings without doing surgery.

@box464 Pihole is a great way to do local DNS, and you get an awesome network-wide adblocker at the same time.

Now that my server is up, I spent some time with . Using a 3rd party app, I selected some photos from Apple Photos on my iPad mini and synched them over as a test.

Really like the web interface and I’m impressed by how much data you can see or edit for each photo. Best of all is the AI in PhotoPrism that automatically tags and organizes images.

I’ll be testing some more but if the positive experience continues, I’ll start auto-synching all of my new photos to my server. 🤓
