The first pool day of the season. I am so happy. Toby finds water to be a torturous substance and instead prefers to watch my benevolent cadre of pool robots from afar or snooze in the shade.

Suddenly I'm wondering something.

I call disposable plastic grocery bags "Jewel bags" after the Chicagoland grocery store chain. I don't even shop there all that much these days, but any such bag is still a "Jewel bag" in my head.

Anybody else do this? Like, not Jewel specifically but your local store chain?

(Oh and, fun fact, an industry term for that kind of bag is T-shirt bag, despite it resembling a tank top if anything)

I have been having a profoundly bad week and I think the only thing that can counteract it is one of those moments like at the end of the first Digimon movie where everyone's internet friends send good vibes as a power-up so if people could spare some power-up energy for me that would be rad.

if you use Linux on your personal computer: what do you like about it?

I used to be super into customizing my window manager, but now I mostly like that it's so easy to install software, and that the environment is the same as on a Linux server

(please no arguing about whether people "should" use Linux on their personal computers, I'm just curious about why you personally like it)

Hello folks!

I've been around the fediverse for a bit now (2018?), and have spent most of my time on cybre.space until the admin decided to close it down this year.

retro.pizza seems like a pretty cool (one might even say, rad) place to call home for now. Looking forward to meeting folks in the timeline!

I'm based in California these days, doing tech stuff for work, but love retro tech, sci-fi, music creation, tinkering, gadgets, storytelling, and video games.
