There are many different sides to the "Dave Debate"

Should people named Dave exist? Should they have rights? Are they people at all?

I'm not anti-Dave, in fact I am a great supporter of Daves. I just think we need to ask some questions. But if you ask these questions people get so mad.

Shouldn't we at least have a sober reasonable discussion? What's wrong with that?

julieofthespirits,

@futurebird had a bad experience with one who wouldn't stop saying I'd crash into him, I think I know all there is to know about daves

Pence testified in special council Smith's January 6 grand jury today, despite Trump's hail-mary executive privilege attempt to prevent it. (That seemed to me like an especially weak argument, since the VP doesn't work for the president, but is a separate constitutional office),

What makes a battle or escape or fight scene in a book good?

Conventional writing wisdom says building tension is critical. Think about your character's greatest nightmare, bring it to bear. What I've not encountered in writing advice is the problem of too much tension.

Have you ever put a book down because it was just stressing you out too much? You have a literary sense it might be OK in the end but don't enjoy the suspense?

This is among the top reasons I end up not completing books. 1/

julieofthespirits,

@futurebird I'd say not so much because it's stressing me out but because action without emotional weight is kind of boring, if I don't feel like there's anything really at stake it's just a bunch of noise to me

I know a trans girl who escaped Ukraine last year at 17 y/o, had she stayed she'd been drafted as a "boy".

everybody back them was shocked at Eastern European backwardness and here we are with the new 2023 trans law in Germany adding a clause specifically to make clear that for military draft purposes, trans women are men.

julieofthespirits,

@ramonita bring back military discrimination against queers

"Do you think you think the military discriminates against transsexuals?"
Holly Woodlawn: "Thank God they do, otherwise I'd be over there in Vietnam, what a drag"

Imaginary evil is romantic and varied; real evil is gloomy, monotonous, barren, boring. Imaginary good is boring; real good is always new, marvelous, intoxicating. - Simone Weil

Going to make a pinned thread of things I've written and interviews I've done, now that there's another wave of people here post-Musk deal, to put them all in one place and so people can get where I'm coming from. I write in Spanish and English

First is this text on ecofascism and its influence on the contemporary transphobic movement
