I saw this flyer yesterday when walking around the Cheesman Park neighborhood, Denver, CO. At first… I was thinking that this woman’s intentions seem to be quite sweet. But then it occurred to me… umm… isn’t this a quite similar way that the witch lures Hansel and Gretel into her gingerbread house?? I mean… it is literally signed ‘The Crone.’

Another scenario in which Oola finds yet another high place in the apartment to climb up to just “hang out and see what’s going on.”

Oola the black cat, near the ceiling, moving between the top of the window ledge and the ledge for the back door.

Oola in the window, contemplating the outside world and its vast possible endless wonders. Maybe tomorrow…

“The idea of a lighthouse: a lonely, melancholic, meditative place that few notice until needed.” Thinking about friends, family, strangers, and lighthouses. A daily comic that I did three years ago (March 30, 2021.)

There are those times when all the troubles of the world bear down and threaten to crush you. This was especially the case in early 2021 when I did this comic. Kelly and I were dealing with a lot at the time (including the continuing pandemic.) However, there are also those moments where suddenly things seem to lift for a second and you can catch your breath… like suddenly hearing a much loved song as someone walks by. This happened at this time (March 25, 2021.)

A man walks by Kelly with Bobby Womack’s song “Across 110th Street” playing on his mobile. He says “mornin’” to Kelly as he walks away. Kelly starts crying at the beauty of the moment as she queues up the same song on her mobile. Page 2 of 2.

So… I’m supposed to fly out on Friday to NYC to exhibit at MoCCA this weekend. The clouds are currently rolling in over Denver for what’s supposed to start as rain and quickly turn into 8-12 inches (maybe more) of snow tomorrow. K and I have already pushed our flight back on Friday afternoon, hoping things will possibly be cleaned up by then. Crossing fingers that we’re able to get out of town and back to the East Coast without too many delays.

@jmac MoCCA is a brilliant show. Exhibited at it for the first time in 2023. Just be warned: it can get very crowded! There was a line around the block to get in last year.

COVER REVEAL! A new collection of Oola the manic black cat comics is at the printer now. IT’S OOLA TOO!!, 48 pages of B&W hilarity, will debut at MoCCA next month in NYC. It will also be St Pats Day weekend… what could possibly go wrong??!! I’ll be there, exhibiting at Table 021, along the same wall I was at last year. A great spot!

Sometimes when the world gets on top & you seem to be crushed by everything that is going on, try to remember to just breathe & continue to move forward. A daily comic I did three years ago (Feb 26, 2021) dealing with everything that was going on during that extremely weird time.

Kelly is coming home with groceries, pausing as events happening in her life (deadlines, work, covid, etc) suddenly get on top of her. She takes a deep breath and continues to move forward. Page 2 of 2.

Here’s a new IT’S OOLA comic. The Vicious Claw returns! The manic black cat continues to dream big. This week, I’m putting the finishing touches on a new Oola comic collection that I hope to have print up for MoCCA next month. Yep, I’ll be back in NYC.
