A complete steal of a collection. 3LPs with the album, Peel sessions and Demos. I don't think the original album was meant to be in this as its not listed anywhere. It was £25 as well.

Got my Big|Brave vinyl for “A Chaos of Flowers,” my favorite record of 2024. It’s so beautiful.

The lyrics are quite powerful. They’re themed on the internal/external manifestations of marginalization. Five songs were written by female poets, all of whom were activists for women, people of color, and indigenous people: Emily Dickinson, Akiko Yosano, Renée Vivien, Esther Popel, and Tekahionwake (links in thread).

Mr. Cest La Vie, you know I suck at internets. Did I do the TotD cats correctly?

mrcompletely,
@mrcompletely@heads.social avatar

@UncleJimmy almost. So the way the posts are connected to each other is by the hashtag:

Click on that and you'll see all the posts. That's the key to Mastodon besides following lots of people: hashtags. Like or or . Each of those should be a link that takes you to posts with that hashtag. So add hashtags to your posts for people to see them.

To add them to existing posts, use Edit in the "..." menu on each post and just paste the hashtag in

mrcompletely,
@mrcompletely@heads.social avatar

@UncleJimmy note that by the rules of pics have to be from today.

BTW if you posted vinyl collection pics here with the hashtag and maybe and whatever genre it is (like etc), you could find some people, you have a good collection. For streaming links to go with vinyl pics I think YT links are preferred here to Spot, but whatever

there are def some dope musics posted here. You can actually follow hashtags too which is fun

always sounds to me like so much of 90s West Coast tracks its sound and aesthetic to Roy Ayers. e.g., Dr Dre only sampled this track once, for a Detox track, but I can't help suspecting he took much more from it for his sound.

the "my life, my life, my life" tag was true Cali staple, used by Tupac, Ice Cube, Mc Eiht ("my life, my life, my life, with a tech nine").

Roy Ayers Ubiquity - Everybody Loves the Sunshine @vinylrecords

Record cover of Roy Ayers Ubiquity - Everybody Loves the Sunshine, with a photograph of the artist in a yellow t-shirt. The music playing is the title track, with a low bass grove, a piano riff, and a high-pitched continuous synthesiser sound. The lyrics start with "my life, my life, my life, in the sunshine".

An album about the Mining Crisis in the 80s isn't going to sound appealing much but this is so well done.

I had an online friend who helped me to find some music and send to me.
Back in 2012 an 10" vinyl record was released under the price of $10USD or less. I asked her to buy it for me. Days later she told me she got the record and we planned to pay and then send it to me.
Suddenly she disappeared from all the Internet sites, I don't know why.
Now, that vinyl record can be found at the price from $75 to $120USD.
How I hate this so much...

TERENCE TRENT D’ARBY
Terence Trent D'Arby's Neither Fish Nor Flesh: A Soundtrack Of Love, Faith, Hope, And Destruction
1989 U.S. pressing

TTD had a massive ego, & fancied himself the second coming of Prince.
Trust me.
I met him.

The reality always was that he was a cheap dime store poor man’s version of Prince.
Only without the hits.

That being said, his 1st album was pretty decent. It even had a hit.

This one though?
👎
Terrible and pretentious.

Wayne Shorter's precocious Blue Note debut, ably accompanied by Lee Morgan and Coltrane group alumni McCoy Tyner, Elvin Jones and Reggie Workman. No wonder Miles Davis snapped up Shorter for his legendary 2nd Great Quintet, which not only adopted his style, but also seemed to "communicate by mental telepathy" after his arrival.

Who is an artist for you where, when you hear them, regardless of song, album, whatever…
INSTANTLY makes you cringe and sends you into a fit of rage?

An artist or band where you’d rather slice your own ears off than ever hear them again.

Mine is easy.

What about you guys?

I'm using some to try to save some space since the character cards are fairly useless.

Also been meaning to compare the album to the greatest hits of the same tracks.

It's very close in detail. The album version of Frozen on Ray Of Light seems a little darker and therefore some treble on the soundstage including the strings get muffled but honestly only if you're listening for it. At least it's not a cash grab digitally compressed rubbish like alot of Greatest hits are.

SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE
Diary
2017 U.S. 2xLP Ltd. Ed. Reissue

A monster album for me when I was in high school.
Being a total devotee of all things Sub Pop in the #90s , this one hit me in a way that none of the label’s other releases at the time.

I remember buying it on tape, & it taking me at least a week to get past the first 3 songs, because I kept rewinding it after Song For An Angel and playing those 3 over & over.

Amazing album that still holds up.
