A California city has agreed to pay $900,000 to a man who was subjected to a 17-hour police interrogation in which officers pressured him to falsely confess to murdering his father, who was alive....
I absolutely agree. And I absolutely hate the “protect and serve” shit on militarized police forces where their success metric is number of tickets, arrests, and convictions. The system is working as intended, the police exist to protect and serve capital interests.
Like Vegas? Sure. Open source stuff like kdenlive and shotcut exists. Davinci resolve is available for Linux for more professional stuff. Specifically Vegas? Probably only under a VM, and you’d likely get awful performance, so not worth it. If you’re a professional, Linux isn’t always an option, especially if you are in a software ecosystem that doesn’t work there
Yeah I’m sure nobody would notice you angle grinding the boot off your truck and definitely not post it in this same community for the same amount of laughs
Yeah the system of “this post probably has disinformation” did the opposite, and enticed idiots to re-spread those posts, thinking that their elusive “deep state” was working against them. It was working against them, but it was foreign entities and national corporations that want them to keep following their path of idiocy, and they happily bit the worm and swam with the hook
Essentially reality is or contains all the properties of hallucination but our brain filters it, and psychedelic drugs in some way dilute or remove that filter.
So the human brain is sort of by default filtering the “hallucination” version of thought until we open that up, and ANNs begin with that at baseline, and then require rigor added to them to reduce the “hallucination”
Especially with how often today you’ll find a gaming or software project with little to no available documentation and just a “Join the discord!” Link somewhere as a replacement. Discord is neither indexable nor archivable on the public internet, and when it eventually shuts down, an incredible amount of orphaned software projects with no public documentation will fade away. And this doesn’t at all mention how terrible a chat platform is as a drop in for organizing gestalt knowledge
However “easy to misunderstand” on lemmy shouldn’t end with a “you get what you deserve,” comment. I know it wasn’t you who made that comment, but pretty shit take when it could be “hey if it’s your server you should focus on improving permissions”
