I've just received my Zoom H1 Esential recorder. Now to figure out how to actually operate the thing and set it up. I'll be on my teamtalk server at 97.107.140.118 default ports, in the tech center, if anyone wants to watch me try to figure this thing out, without having read any documentation at all prior to receiving it. :)

On this day in 1989, Space Shuttle Atlantis, on mission STS-30, lands at Edwards Air force Base in the Mojave desert of Southern California, and yours truly attends that landing, making it the first time I would attend a space shuttle landing. I was age 9 at the time, so yes growing up near where the shuttle landed had its advantages, and allowed me to become the human space flight nerd I am.

@DerryLawlor @evilcookies98 the best I've ever done in any dark tower was 480, but those last 50 or so floors definitely were challenge. But when things are going well, that is definitely the place to get your servants.

@DerryLawlor @evilcookies98 yes, I agree, diamonds are just as important as gold, and in fact probably more so, since diamonds are the only way you can get skills and bonuses. And you kind of need those if you want to even consider doing well. Katie, too bad I didn't know you played, because at the beginning of last season, I had over 20,000 diamonds. I don't anymore, but there was a brief period when I actually could've gifted a few. Thousand. :)

@evilcookies98 yes definitely very addicting, and definitely fun, until the new season resets and you have to rebuild all your stuff again, that happened today. Which is why I'm back at the arrow factory level and not up at level 600 which is where I had been. If you ever want to attack me or anything, my player number is 109044, sumo is my night name, right now might be your best shot at attacking me and getting away with it, lol. Have fun

@evilcookies98 @munchkinbear not sure exactly, but I believe it's about every five or six months. I just started playing again back in March when a couple other friends of mine were also getting back into it after not playing for a couple of years. I actually built myself up surprisingly well, we are in the 12th night manager season now and it just reset this morning so There you go

@munchkinbear @evilcookies98 @JamminJerry i'm not totally sure the point of that either, I guess it would be so that no one has an unfair advantage forever I suppose. At least this time though I knew the reset was coming, because each day for the last week they announced that the season would end soon, so I knew to take one last good look at my stats so I knew what to aim for in the new season. It obviously isn't for everyone, but for me it's kind of fun every now and then, so I do continue to play it at least for now but yes the first time the season reset, I was like what the hell? Fortunately, you don't lose your skills, but it takes a while to reclaim your bonuses, as they unlock slowly with each level. And they unlock three at a time, so example one of my bonuses, I own it like over 100 times, so with each successful upgraded level, three of those specific bonuses get unlocked, it'll take a bit before I'm back where I was before today, lol

@JamminJerry @evilcookies98 @munchkinbear wow Katie! Me ending the season at level 604 now seems rather insignificant, lol I certainly would've loved to see some of your stats. I think my favorite area of the entire game is the dark tower when it comes around. That's like the only place to easily get servants. How high did you get in the combat divisions rankings Katie? Like I said you're more than welcome to attack me anytime you want, neat that I just happen to find someone else who plays.

@evilcookies98 @JamminJerry @munchkinbear last season, I got as high as blood guard, held that for the last two weeks of the season. In the dark tower, my highest floor was 474. And I won't even mention my hunting stuff, because I purposely didn't do much of that. I collected the arrows of course, but didn't use them much maybe this season I'll change that, we will see

@munchkinbear @JamminJerry @evilcookies98 keep in mind I started playing again back in mid March, so I suppose that's pretty good for only a couple of months of play in the last season. And like you Katie, last season was my personal best too, let's see if I can at least equal that this time. Good luck to all of us. @munchkinbear @evilcookies98 @JamminJerry that's a lofty goal, you think you can make it? After all, this will probably be the only chance the entire season where you and I will be anywhere close to equal. But then again I'm still back at level 15 so I've got a waste to go hell I never ranked higher than league D, I doubt I ever will. You probably at least got into the sea rank I'm guessing during last season. My best rank was somewhere around league D position 1054

Really disappointed to discover that Linode's control panel has undergone a pretty significant revamp, making the deploy page largely inaccessible to screen readers. The particular problem here is the selection dropdowns for region, operating system, and size. Linode once had the most accessible web control panel by far; now it's easily the least accessible. DigitalOcean and Vultr both have their issues, but they're at least usable, whereas I can't even get through the region selection on the new Linode. Stay away if you use a screen reader.

@simon Why do they always have to break things, there's nothing wrong with the old control panel, why do these companies do this! grrrrhrrr pissss as I say Linode was the only truly accessible control panel. Just wow!

Last night, the crew-8 mission to the international space station launched successfully from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Shortly after launch, NASA's coverage of Crew-8 on route to the space station switched to an audio only feed. I would love to be able to listen to this audio communications feed. The problem? No link to the live audio feed is provided anywhere! At least, not in a way that a totally blind person can easily retrieve it! Even worse, I've attempted to search for this link via every possible means I can think of, Google, YouTube, and even poking around on the NASA website, and I can't find this audio feed anywhere! The only mention of the audio coverage last night was toward the end of the NASA TV broadcast, when they put up a QR code for those wanting to check out the audio feed! Excuse me, but that won't help blind users find it in the slightest! Why can't they just put a regular old fashion link on their website, or in the description for their YouTube Live Streams, or anywhere! A couple missions back, I was lucky enough to find the audio feed for that mission, which was provided by the Johnson Space Center, but even when I look at their YouTube channel, I am not finding the feed at all! You literally won't find this super secret feed, unless you have a god damn QR code apparently! What the hell! For decades, you could watch full human space flight mission coverage 24/7 on NASA TV, and even for the first few SpaceX Crew Dragon missions, NASA TV would provide coverage full time of the Crew on route to the station, but now, though the coverage is still there, apparently if you are a blind space flight fan, you won't get to listen to it, as you have for literally decades previously! If anyone at all can find this mystery link, I'll gladly take it! Again, it's not that the audio feed doesn't exist, it most certainly does, but I sure as hell can't locate it, because it was only mentioned once with a QR code! Wow!

How dangerous is it to leave a computer with a mechanical hard drive on overnight so it can finish a very long copying operation. I'm feeding about 30 GB of data to the cloud

@evilcookies98 it should be perfectly fine. I used to do long duration file copies all the time on my old Windows XP machine which had two mechanical hard drives in it.

Update on my hospital situation. I was removed from the ICU at around 6:30 PM Eastern time yesterday, Wednesday, February 28. Still don’t know how long I’m going to be here, but probably one or two more days.

My friend @BorrisInABox has recently encountered the first case, so far as I'm aware, of an internet provider implenenting carrier grade NAT on its residential customers. In other words, as of yesterday, if you were hoping to run a server of any kind, on this provider, accessible via the internet directly, good luck with that! Oh and did I mention this ISP is not a mobile provider, and is a fiber to the home, (FTTH) provider? In other words, there's no reason in my view for them to be doing this. This provider used to be known as North State Communications in North Carolina, not sure what they're called now, but either way, not fun.

I'm plowing through the well preserved old Main Menu Archives, hunting for the sole contribution I made to that show, which was a review of a piece of software I used a fair bit back then, called Total Recorder. I don't recall though if my review was done in 2002 or 2003, but I'm going to attempt to find this piece of history.
