@uniqx Presumably you're aware that F-Droid has a strict policy of not allowing apps that are built with non-free software (using the Free Software Foundation definition)? Can iOS apps be built with fully build tools?

@sunset_sakura @IzzyOnDroid Thanks for the summary @IzzyOnDroid. ObjectBox was in the toolchain, but has now been removed. We'll ping F-Droid once a new version built with the new completely FOSS build chain is available.

So yesterday we saw a play featuring a guy in prison and it involved the question of knowledge and reading. Somehow I felt envy of this situation of having time (and no other option) to read an learn stuff.

Maybe this influenced me into installing @kiwix on my MiniPC and using ~ 400 GB on my large backup disk to get some zim files.

Wikipedia , Arch Wiki and all I need to survive in case of a temporary end of the world. I mean someone cutting the fiber cable on the tree.

@melroy All our repos are publicly available in two clusters: https://github.com/kiwix/ and https://github.com/openzim/. The former group of repos is mostly associated with coding of the various apps and tools that read ZIM archives, whereas the latter is associated with tools that produce or publish the archives (roughly).

Kiwix JS Browser Extension is now at v3.9.0!

The main change is the compulsory shift (enforced by Google) from Manifest V2 to Manifest V3 for the Chromium extension, together with a new offline PWA mode that finally allows the Chromium extension to run in-line JS. Project Gutenberg ZIMs, for example, now display a fully functional UI.

If you are using Chromium/Chrome/Edge < 88, you will need to sideload the MV2 version. Easy instructions for sideloading MV2 are here: https://github.com/kiwix/kiwix-js#installing-unsigned-extensions-in-chromium.

@spinster Wikidata Taiwan is hosted on Mastodon host liker.social. This host is banned by your own Mastodon host mastodon.green, see https://mastodon.green/about. Reason given is “Unsupported language”, which (best guess) means that your Mastodon moderation team is not able to deal with the language and therefore to enforce their moderation rules. Banning the whole host liker.social might have been a profylactic measure. Please check with your mastodon.green moderation team.

    Here in , our internet sometimes drops for hours, sometimes a day or two. For fun, I setup offline internet content server using and old laptop and WiFi router. Now we have our own private that never goes down (except when the power is out, which is another toot).
    We have and lots of other useful content, all available without an internet connection. To learn more, follow the Kiwix Project.
