I need better inventory management... had a Samsung 870 EVO fail even though I was aware of the firmware issue, but didn't realize I used one. >_<

Also diese neuen Lenovo-Netzteile sind ja schön kompakt, aber wenn sie ein Handy laden quietschen sie echt nervig.

While we are discussing supply chain attacks, you do trust GitHub users to upload untampered binaries as part of the release process, right?!

Let me share my story with you today... when I got into Linux I used "easier" editors like joe and Xwpe (anyone remember?!), later I quickly moved to Emacs 19. A few years later, I had a summer job which involved editing code on the deployment server (good practices, eh), which 1) only had Vim installed 2) was across the ocean and the SSH link wasn't exactly low latency.

Is there a cryptographic construction like a blockchain that 1) detects modification or deletion of blocks 2) still can verify the remainder?

People seem to have entirely forgotten how difficult contributing to an open source project was before Git, if you didn't have commit access.

Tonight I explained @aehlig how the Fortran I compiler parsed infix operators with precedence, in times before the Chomsky hierarchy was fully understood: http://polaris.cs.uiuc.edu/publications/c1070.pdf

But it turns out the IBM 1401 Fortran compiler didn't use this technique (https://ibm-1401.info/1401-FORTRAN-Illustrated.html), in spite of using 63 passes (truly the first nanopass compiler!).

Pro tip: If you use systemd-run (v250.4) as a glorified setsid(2) wrapper, consider also using --collect; else, failing runs will accumulate systemd units, which keep around a network cgroup, which by default has an eBPF filter, and at some point these filters clog the 1.5G vmalloc area, resulting in kernel oom, which causes crashes somewhere down that stack.
