@ljpuk @merecivilian Sorry to hop on, but @merecivilian said basically what I would say. It’s a spectrum, not a black and white thing for me. Apple absolutely treats their customers and developers in ways I think are bad, but the value their products give me outweigh the bad parts for me. Twitter was too far, and Reddit is…it’s in a gray area for me. If kbin/Lemmy were at all any good, I’d use those, but they are so bad they’re not worth it for me right now.

I know release notes don’t matter to most people, but Apollo’s last release notes vs the last 7 updates from Reddit.

My favorite part is that they decided to make them a bulleted list of one item a couple times and gave up.

Did the whole “no viewing Twitter without an account” thing also kill Nitter servers?

I assume the links to magically unfurl messages that appear in iMessages and other chat apps is also dead?

I’m not complaining just hoping it gives people fewer excuse to still see content there.

You know what I love about smaller blogs? They don't mess around with hiding the link to the thing they're talking about.

The bigger the site, the more challenging it can be to find the link to the source 🙃

Ok, the iPhone tier list episode is the thing that finally got me to subscribe to their membership. I’m 10 minutes in and I’m screaming at my phone 😂

@siracusa is absolutely right, the original iPhone is S-tier with a bullet. It’s one of the greatest products of all time full stop.

It also nailed or invented so many UI paradigms we still use today. Inertial scrolling, multitouch, and the Home Screen come to mind, and you can still buy an iPhone with a home button. https://overcast.fm/+BCOse3KpHA/11:37

The 12 Pro was worse than that 11 Pro in every way except for MagSafe. I know people love the flat sides, but they made the phone more uncomfortable to hold and battery life was trash compared to the 11 Pro.

@andyn I'm gonna be honest, people bring up "RAM hog" apps all the time, but not once in like a decade have I ever gone, "man, RAM usage is a problem" 😂

Anyway, I've used Vivialdi quite seriously previously, but never considered it heavier than any other browser I've used. But I don't know for sure.

A few months ago I got into a…thing…with Android people about how third party apps on Android kinda suck compared to iOS, and I asked people for the best RSS reader out there. I forget the name of the one they gave me, but it had to be installed from an alternate app store and it sucked way harder than I ever imagined. It was genuinely shocking 😱

I'm sorry everyone but we need to take back whatever we all said about Apple not doing machine learning right.

iOS 17's Photos app can now identify and explain laundry symbols in pictures and this is amazing. No more need for apps that do this; just swipe up on a photo.
