Now its confirmed that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has been killed in a Helicopter crash which initial reports indicate was a powered flight into a mountain side in adverse weather conditions.... we can expect a range of coverage & conspiracy theories that will identify one or other state actors as the real agents of the 'accident'.

How this then plays out could become (even more) dangerous for regional security... its unlikely to be left to remain as an 'accident' (even if it was).

lewiscowles1986,
@lewiscowles1986@phpc.social avatar

@ChrisMayLA6 it definitely feels like state actors in all but the competence and execution of it...

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has died in a helicopter crash.

May it be a turning point for the women of Iran.

What drugs did you take before thinking this... You think one old dude was opressing an entire country of women?

Violence like that is systemic, and is a lot harder to stamp out than taking out one "bad dude"

A president or prime minister's helicopter or plane going down is almost a stock element in spy thrillers.

Iran is not a friendly country to my own, but my heart goes out, just the same.

As an aside, I marvel, that humans think we're so very high-tech and ultra-capable, and there are still places on the land that we just can't get to, when the weather acts.

Rescuers have reached the site, now, ~24 hours later, and Red Crescent says there are no signs of life.

IDK about a tragedy; some state-sponsored violence is what it looks like to me. But yeah, all the death is a bit much.

There are several reasons I am avoiding the browser stack in CurryTree, as I've avoided it for many years.

But, perhaps the most important reason, and I know that many of you are now coming to grasp this, is that the browser stack requires a browser, and all the browsers are made by people who believe the rather ludicrous capitalist myth of infinite growth, and they will do anything to make that myth seem true, quarter on quarter.

@GeePawHill
I too, dislike the military & corporate interests that create much of the good tooling.

I refuse to avoid good tools because they were created by bad people or for the benefit of bad people.

And let's face it, with their stupid money they could likely pay more people just to implement the latest changes as often as a person could change them.

Don't let their horror inflict on your joy

Dude, nobody cares what you want the software used for. Nobody should care about your weirdo license

Just communicate how you'd like folks to use things well enough, that folks back your ideas.

This derranged Adele nonsense of creator overreach, trying to mandate how folks use a thing you transferred, is just controlling personality disorder.

Ordered back to the office, top tech talent left instead, study finds

In the months following return-to-office mandates, an increased number of senior employees departed Apple, Microsoft and SpaceX, often to work for competitors.

Gosh, at that price, I sure hope they got all that unmeasurable spontaneous innovation that can only happen via ad hoc office encounters back! But I guess that can only be confirmed by the same gut feelings that lead to RTO in the first place.

I found wonderful books from the 50's to the recent.

I feel like kids books are not as engaging or enthralling as when I was a wee lad.

I wonder if interactive media will ever be as good as a book and an imagination.

I also wonder if oration prior to language, or other communication methods were better?

I hope not

Imperative Vs functional programs...

GTFO it's imperative Vs declarative and procedural Vs various specialist high-level sugar for procedure 😄😘

Honestly though, no matter how composable, if you explicitly say how to make the sausage; it's likely imperative.

You can sprinkle in whatever seasoning you're making, it's a sausage maker!

CurryTree: Gotta get back up on that horse. It has been a hard month for me, morale-wise, hence no work on my joy project. But I am shooting for a bit of a reset this afternoon.

I will say this: in spite of the fact that I haven't been coding, I've been meaning to work on it, and as a result of the break, I've had several ideas I think are good.

I most recently made a teensy excallidraw save / load from html, because I don't want to be tied into particular note taking suite.
