I've been seeing discussions lately around the YouTube fascism algorithm [not directed at me] implying that if you get those suggestions it's because that's material you have sought out.
Not true.
It's been studied and repeatedly shown--like a vehicle w/poor alignment--suggestions will drift to the right pretty quickly.
To "never" get them, you must
a) be outside targeted demographics AND
b) not look at DIY, repair, survivalism, building, cooking, sewing, politics, animal husbandry, automotive
@toor@_L1vY_ I mean, one chap was spouting antisemitic shit on the PZK (our version of ARRL, basically) board meeting. It's not just MAGA, it's bigotry in general :<
For anyone wondering, there are a few ways to install Windows 11 without creating a Microsoft account.
Probably the simplest — and one that I tested when I needed to do that — was just to give an invalid e-mail address when "creating" that Microsoft account; "elon@test.example" works well, because "example." is a well-known TLD that will never work, so the e-mail is guaranteed to be invalid.
Of course then the problem is that you still end up with Windows 11.
@noodlejetski ja korzystam z PKP.appka/Bilkom bo często muszę się przesiadać na Regio, i w ogóle to jest pojebane że w ramach jednej grupy spółek mamy taką fragmentację że pierdyliard apek do wszystkiego
DON’T: Try to assess the situation and make sure you’re seeing it correctly in case the other person isn’t aware of the greater context
DON’T: Discuss it calmly with the person concerned to make sure that everyone is on the same page
DO: Create a public spectacle about it that annoys everyone else who has to see you try to make it everyone else’s business
I’m sorry, but myself and most people on Fedi aren’t here because we want to be involved in some wild vague goose chase about who interacts with who, or who said what about who.
Surely this kind of stuff is better dealt with in private with the people affected, without needing to make it everyone’s problem.
Samsung made a big deal yesterday about how their new $1300 Galaxy S24 features #Google AI. But down in the fine print it was noticed that it says those features are free until the end of next year. Meaning, after that, they may start charging you for the dubious honor of accessing those features. Just say no.
@lauren fair, but my phone broke recently so I took what was newest at the time (wanted an iPhone 15 Pro Max but eventually decided against it, now I'm glad I did because S Pen is seriously underrated)
I bet it's super annoying to be the pope. Like you're at brunch and casually tell your friend "you shouldn't have the benedict here" and then there's a long awkward pause before you feel forced to quietly add "not dogma, just my opinion"
