Need some suggestions for what I can replace these fluorescent tube lights in the conservatory.

There are three of them. I want to replace them with something that is:

• super bright. The brighter, the better.
• controllable colour temperature
• dimmable
• smart controllable

I don't think there are any zigbee LED tube lights that I can just swap in like that?

This is probably a dumb question, but..... I have some lights that I want to switch on to their brightest setting. With the Phillips Hue app, I can switch it to "Bright" scene, and the brights go to their full brightness. How can I do that with a automation, and not using a Hue scene?
If I send a rgb_colour of 255,255,255 it's not the brightest mode of the bulb.

I didn't like how dark my living room was due to the poor lighting (which had 3 of the brightest G9 bulbs I could find) and lack of sun light coming in, so I changed the light fixture to this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08CD94F7N

and also put in a #Zigbee dimmer switch (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CJ4HLV21)

I got the brightest bulbs I could find.

Now it's so bright 😂
My wife thinks it might be a little bit too bright. I don't agree, it's just right!

Besides, with the dimmer, you can just reduce the brightness.

For #Zigbee remotes for light controls, do you use bindings, or #HomeAssistant automations to control the lights?

Seems like bindings is might be good idea because the remotes will still work if HomeAssistant/Zigbee2MQTT is down, but it seems you also lose some flexibility in terms of what action a button press takes?

#Parents of Mastodon, could you recommend a game, that is not Minecraft, or Roblox that is multiplayer that I can play with my 4 year old and 6 year old?

Mainly looking for a game for my 4 year old. He likes Minecraft, but stupidly it triggers my motion sickness. I struggle to play for longer than 15 minutes. I have to really force myself to stick around for longer than that.

I also find it incredibly boring. 😓

Removed #Plex from all my devices. #Jellyfin is doing a better job, and I'm super happy with it.

There are some missing features, but overall, it's managed to replace plex completely for me.

I don't get it. I'm a true caffeine addict. I usually have multiple coffees in a day, or sometimes energy drinks.

I haven't had any caffeine since Monday. I was expecting the usual extreme headaches that come every time I do the caffeine reset.... but I haven't had any headaches at all.

Just extreme sleepiness. Not that I'm complaining. I don't want the headaches. But it's weird. Usually I would get a headache the same day if I missed my morning coffee.

Today hasn't started off too good.

Does anyone have experience running their Home Lab in a high humidity environment?

I want to move my home lab to my conservatory, but I'm worried because the humidity and temperature is quite variable. Humidity goes between 50%-80%, and lowest temperature I have seen so far has been 4°C. I'm a little worried about condensation.

@funkypenguin If I remember correctly, you had your homelab in your garage? That must have high humidity when it rains outside?

Is there a better option than PowerLine or WiFi to "bridge" two networks together?

I live in a rental, and can't run cables through walls. I want to move my servers out into the conservatory so the noise doesn't bother me.

Problem is that I don't know how to connect back to the rest of the network that lives in my home office room, where my internet connection also comes in.

The distance is only around 30m point to point.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Bought a robot vacuum cleaner. 😁
I like it a lot. It mops the floor too.
Now I don't have to vacuum every 5 minutes when the kids drop crumbs.

Does anyone have experience with the Tuya/generic Thermostatic radiator valves? I want to replace my dumb ones with them, but I'm not sure how they would integrate with the existing thermostat.

I was thinking to change the thermostat to tado, who have their own TRVs, but those are quite expensive.

Is it possible to use HomeAssistant to integrate the the generic Zigbee TRVs with a "branded" thermostat?

How do you name your #ESPHome devices?
I have them named with their purpose, eg the smart plug that the fan is plugged into is named "Living Room Fan", but that's a bit of a pain because if you repurpose the smart plug, you have to re-flash the firmware.

I was thinking to change the naming to just be something like a UUID, then I can just name it in #HomeAssistant instead. Is that a bad idea?
