Hello science friends! Can anyone point me towards some resources that I could use learn how to do a de novo genome assembly from long reads (@nanopore)? Mammalian species, no reference genome exists. An equally exciting and daunting task.... Please share

I've been comparing social media platforms for effictiveness at getting out a PhD advert. Comparing reposts not a like-for-like as TwiX and LinkedIn both use likes to populate your feed. On this basis, LinkedIn clear winner, X clear loser. LinkedIn stripped out links though, grr!

@elduvelle I think in terms of absolute reach, LinkedIn was the surprise winner - the post increased my connections by >20% and I went from 2 followers to over 600.

@elduvelle I'm almost loathe to say it out loud on here, but there's a very slight righteousness edge to a fair amount of posting on Mastodon that makes me reluctant to post inane shite. Twitter still reigns supreme for banter...

@albertcardona 🤣 Actually, two years ago, my PPL application come through from the home office on Dec 23rd with various comments to address. This year, my autoreply will automatically decline all review requests received while I'm on A/L... 😏

@elduvelle Yeah, urgent but didn't feel important. I just did another boring task that supposedly had a firm deadline of July 2022. No-one chased me on these tasks until June 2023 so... 🤷‍♂️
