i know this isn't twitter where corporations started watching to manage their reputations, but, although it's unlikely to help me, for everyone else's benefit:

bought about the most expensive American Standard toilet being sold to consumers a couple years ago and it has been absolutely horrible the entire time.

Related, anyone have a toilet recommendation that will A) reliably flush, B) stop running the water refill at some point, and C) don't overflow?

WorkersDefenseAlliance, to Minneapolis

Reports that the city of #Minneapolis has posted an #eviction notice of an encampment of #unhoused people at 5th Ave & 24th St S for Wednesday, tomorrow, during a continued #blizzard and sub-freezing temperatures, forecast high of 27°F and low of 14°F, down to 8°F within 24 hours of planned encampment #destruction.

mlncn,

@WorkersDefenseAlliance

The police did indeed show up in force this morning to force the remarkably compact and tidy encampment a little south of downtown.

As of an hour ago the city's enforcers of poverty – the infamously murderous – were still waiting for their fig leaf—"outreach workers"—to arrive.

Here are pictures, if there are any non-cop faces let me know and i will remove or edit:

posting the pictures specifically to get help doing alternative text, in other words everyone please go ahead and post these yourself with image descriptions please!! Extra points for describing the awful smiles give while getting photographed!

That one neatly and carefully put up tent was gone thirty minutes later. This is the police playbook, not letting people have any stability, chasing people away from being able to live anywhere near the encampments that the cruel mayor, Jacob Frey, has his minions destroy again and again and again and again and again and again and again.

mlncn,

#Minneapolis commits so many resources to destroying #encampments. Here is one of several Regulatory Services vehicles at this #eviction

mlncn,

Saray Garnett-Hochili, Director of Regulatory Services, in a public meeting, shouted at people demanding humane treatment of unhoused people "Encampments are unacceptable" and that still, to her, means destroying camps with as much violence as needed and as much repetition as possible— rather than giving people a better place to live.

From almost exactly one year ago, Patience noting Garnett-Hochuli's inhumanity doing the same awful thing as today:

"The City of Minneapolis has shown us time and time again, who they really are. And yet, there are still so many who are unwilling to acknowledge what is happening right before them."

Cops here to enforce the destruction of people's homes in freezing, snowy weather, did not even get the snow off their squad SUV before driving over.

Two white male appearing police officers visible through a windshield. The one on the left is forcing a smile and the one on the right is putting on sunglasses.

mlncn,

Minneapolis reactionaries, including the mayor and a majority of voters who bought into his lies, claim we don't have enough of these wastes-of-city-money.

mlncn,

Anyone know exactly what kind of cops these two goons are— in their unmarked van but with their "Operations Plan" on the dashboard?

A crisis response team but instead of showing up and shooting anything that moves, they show up at a moments notice with food, medicine and first aid.

mlncn,

@Adam_Cadmon1

We already have that in Minneapolis really but the police stop us from providing that. Pictures coming.

Open Collective Foundation has refused to extend their irresponsible shutdown schedule by even a week, and so donations for hundreds of mutual aid groups across the US stop tomorrow.

7 Minneapolis collectives are trying to move to People Who Give a Damn, Inc.

That organization does not have staff to be a full service fiscal host, but we are all trying to solicit any and all help to cobble together volunteers, new part-time staff, and pro bono expert advisors to up its offerings and capacity.

Hey if you are Jewish like me and know it is absolutely abhorrent what Israel is doing to Palestinians now (and for decades, but the scale and speed of slaughter is now unsurpassed, and thus so is the urgency to stop it), i've very recently been reminded of @jewishvoiceforpeace and hope you will take the same step of finally reaching out to get involved & organized.

@riotmuffin or @ItsTrainingCatsAndDogs would you like a jar (or a ziplock bag) of dill pickles (spears, thick skin, good flavor, no high fructose corn syrup or anything ridiculous).

(i bought a 50 pound bucket for $10 at Mike's Discount Foods 😂)

And yeah this is a public post anyone nearby who can deal with 2 to 20 week delivery times can jump on the offer!

mlncn,

@ItsTrainingCatsAndDogs

i think i'm definitely available Saturday February 24th afternoon/evening lol

Goddamn the United States is bombing Yemen and i don't know any half-decent news coverage— OK, turned to https://www.aljazeera.com/news/liveblog/2024/1/12/israels-war-on-gaza-live-us-uk-launch-strikes-on-houthis-report

mlncn,

but the AP article…

US "retaliatory strikes" for what was is widely understood to be Yemen's Houthi regime's blockade in opposition to the Israeli government's genocide in Gaza, and the world's business-as-usual approach to it.

Which means the US could stop this disruption of international commerce non-violently— nay, anti-violently – by withdrawing support for Israel's war crimes.

Yet the AP frames the whole thing as an attempt to "deter Iran from widening the war into a regional conflict"

mlncn,

(The article i don't even want to link to: apnews.com/article/yemen-houthis-biden-retaliation-attacks-0804b93372cd5e874a0dd03513fe36a2 )

mlncn,

And nowhere does the AP say even a single person has been killed by the Houthi attacks on shipping? Maybe human life is so unimportant to the US government and their private media propagandists that they don't mention it, but it's clearly an international iteration of "property over people", with lethal force used to stop an attempt to save lives by disrupting commerce.

mlncn,

A month ago NPR casually reported the US military slaughtered those in three small boats attacking commercial ships.

https://www.npr.org/2023/12/05/1217056536/houthis-explainer-red-sea-yemen-saudi-middle-east-israel-gaza

mlncn,

No group in political power is pure but the Houthi disruption of global business-as-usual is a response to the extremist Israeli government's ongoing brutal, calculated destruction of Gaza with the intention of permanent, mass displacement or death for Palestinians.

The US gov't chose its side.

And the US media is trying to gin this up to be international consensus, and i have to turn to Al Jazeera to learn that even some in US Congress noted that bombing a country is supposed to get their OK.

Invoking the 1948 Genocide Convention, South Africa filed its application at the International Court of Justice over Israel’s attack on Gaza, stating that Israel’s actions "are genocidal in character because they are intended to bring about the destruction of a substantial part of the Palestinian national, racial and ethnical group" in the Gaza Strip.
