Useful snippet for computing pixel dimensions from paper sizes (both metric (DIN) and (US) imperial presets included) using https://thi.ng/units, an elaborate & powerful unit converter/calculator/DSL for all SI dimensions:

OMG I just happened to look at my uBlock Origin extension and it has blocked 5.238 MILLION elements since install. 🤯

I mean, I guess I'm not surprised, but that's definitely more than I was expecting. But then again, with some sites having over 200 tags on a single page, perhaps I should be surprised it's not higher.

Either way, thank goodness this exists. 🙏

@jeffpalmer 200 tags on a single page, there must be a problem somewhere, someone forgot to remove previous versions. What I find incredible is the gain in loading time.

@toxi I couldn't agree more: no project deserves to use these trees. In Europe too, forests are poorly protected, Ikea is buying up trees illegally felled in Romania and other countries, and the authorities letting this happen even though they have created laws to protect them (source: https://www.arte.tv/de/videos/112297-000-A/wie-ikea-den-planeten-pluendert).

I spent the day drawing glyphs with code and finding rules for assembling accents and other diacritics. I think I'm going to scale back my project, a SVG font with a JS API, otherwise I won't be done by 2025.

@beardicus Thanks Brian, I'm trying to do all the letters of the Latin alphabet AND their extensions. The cool thing is that you can follow the progress in the demo page's JavaScript console.

Sorry for recent silence, if I can summarize most of my past two weeks or so:

  1. New package https://thi.ng/transducers-async (restarted development after originally stopping it in 2018 due to lack of async iterable support)
  2. Updates to https://thi.ng/rstream (adapters from/to async iterables)
  3. Upcoming, a new & simplified implementation of https://thi.ng/csp (currently still only on a feature branch[2]) for building blocks for Communicating Sequential Processes.
  4. Also still WIP only, async iterable support for https://thi.ng/rdom, i.e. in the same way as rstream subscriptions, such async iterables can soon be directly embedded as component/element bodies or attribute values and then perform pinpointed DOM updates each time their value changes...

As I said, async all the thi.ngs...

[2] The CSP package too was somewhat deprecated (for similar reasons) and a while ago I added another alternative CSP implementation via https://thi.ng/fibers, but that package too might see some more refactoring/simplifying by switching to async generators...

@rich The teacher who taught me perspective was one of the strictest and most rigorous. He taught technical drawing and sculpture/construction techniques (wood/iron/plaster) too.

@t_i_m The color choices for each shape are generated, and I copy them, sometimes making mistakes.
