oh: neurotypicals should really learn to mask better. I know you want to talk about the weather but please just pretend you have a favorite lizard or something, it's not that hard
@nota What of I have a favourite weather. It's when a low pressure system moves into hug the South Eastern Coast. Pulling a North Wester in with is smooth rain cloud. Nice and low over the cold Atlantic. That's when you know it's hiking tomorrow.
Nah just kidding.
My favourite dinosaur is an Apatosaurus. But the Brontosaurus variety cause the paleontologists can't make up their mind if it's the same or if they are just extremely closely related.
@nota aside from cases where the "foundation" is really just a legal entity consisting of 2-3 core contributors in a small project, created for tax purposes, I can't think of any that haven't been generally a total mess of questionable decisions, career politics, and mismanagement of funds.
The best part of the RegioShuttle is all of these tiny places with no design budget getting to wrap their little trains in a bespoke local paint scheme. They're just so good.
incredibly minor pet peeve: People saying "ISO timestamp" when they actually mean the much more narrowly defined RFC3339 timestamps which the thing people actually use because:
they have a single canonical, unambiguous form you can actually parse without additional context, unlike the ISO ones
@nota I miss climbing. I used to do a ton of it but I don't have the body for it any more (neither fitness nor working joints). It was a ton of fun while it lasted though... nothing quite like getting to the top of a rock face and then abseiling down in celebration.
No matter how many Veritassium videos I watch, somehow the part where he switches to hard selling some guys startup ¾ of the way through still catches me by surprise
50% of the way through the runtime, a guy in turtleneck and ostentatious belt shows up and talks about how they'll be making truckloads of the stuff any day now and it will revolutionize the world which is why you should invest in his carbon nanotube startup
Simon Whistler (bald bearded glasses guy) is such a fascinating artifact of modern Youtube. He's basically made a huge career out of just reading scripts people send him into a camera in a condescending british accent for hire.
Despite the absolute empire of channels he "hosts", he doesn't actually own or write for a single one of them. They're all just run by various corporations that want to make youtube videos for whatever motives, but can't figure out seeming authentic without outsourcing it
@nota like i watched 1-2 videos and they were,, off and always felt like they just didn't cover the actual details, rather a quick rundown, while having a video of "actual details" length
