Markup language vs programming language is similar to the difference between a font and a typeface. Sure, they’re different but to the layperson, they might as well be the same thing.

They were not. Fashion designers started as chitinous eggs, in which the mother fashion designer builds a humid, temperate incubation chamber for them to mature while fighting off predators. After the incubation period is complete, the fashion designers break free from their hard shells, their exoskeletons still not fully formed. It’s essential at this stage for them to feast on living flesh, so the newborn fashion designers leave the nest to hunt for sustenance. At this point, survival rate is only 10% as there usually is not a sufficient amount of nearby food for all the hatchlings and only the strongest survive. But that is just part of the life cycle of a fashion designer.

You assume the rules of reincarnation are equal chance to be any organism. What if only intelligent beings are in the pool of potential reincarnation options?

This argument reminds me of the distinction between wisdom and intelligence. Intelligence is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting a tomato in a fruit salad.

The same logic applies here. Sure, a tree can be seen as intelligent in some aspects but I’m sure if you asked 100 people to list the most intelligent organisms in the forest, few would say “the trees”. I personally would define intelligent beings as those that fit in the top end of an intelligence standard distribution curve.

Until a better method is discovered, it would probably be best to measure by # of neurons in the organism’s cerebral cortex.

This comment right here highlights one of the biggest issues in American politics. The “us vs. them” mentality. In other countries, if you vote for a party, you vote for a party. It seems like in the US, you vote for a party and suddenly you must believe in X, you’re responsible for Y, you’re labelled as a Z, you’re always part of the problem, etc.

You guys treat politics like fucking sports teams and it’s weird.

If they actually did this and discounted on off hours I might be more sold on it. Not for eating at lunch time, but for getting $0.50 large fries at 11pm.

I wonder if it’s strong enough to stop projectiles? Or at least cushion hits that would have otherwise been fatal.

You must see how one fast food chain implementing anti-consumer practices can affect an industry at large, right?

Also Wendy’s isn’t good enough to pay a premium for their food. I’ll go literally anywhere else and be happy.

I had a recent project where we made eLearning courses for an MBA program and this is right on the money. They throw around concepts like “consumer surplus”, which basically means “consumers haven’t been bled dry for every penny they have”, they’ll do anything to get that last dollar.
