@thomasfuchs It really was luggable! My dad brought “the Mac” from work on the weekends for us to play games or draw in MacPaint! Since everything was on floppy, we couldn’t mess with his work documents.

On this here day of Trans Visibility I will be out protesting my stupid, paternalistic, right wing government's "committee of the wise" convened to weigh in on trans rights. Dear reader, they are not wise, they are all cisgender old White people full of prejudice. @aral @fifilamoura The president of this committee, a [cis] woman, was asked by a journalist if she could ever imagine a committee on the “women condition” without women and she said “probably not, no”. That should have been the end of it right there. It’s abhorrent.

This sweet little guy went on his first-ever leash walk and he did so good! Just turned 12 weeks old! He’s growing so fast (weight up 65.71% from a month ago)!

well that’s kinda embarrassing. after admiring all of the imagewriters I was sad that I didn’t have one to hook up to the LC

today I went into the archive to pull some Macintosh stuff out for repair, and there was a brand new IW2 sitting in an Apple // crate 😅

I’ve never used one of these in my life. It has a mini-DIN port on the back. any tips on finding the right cable? I noticed my localtalk cables don’t match the pin configuration.

update: sadly has no Apple/Localtalk option card installed. back to the Apple // heap ye go!

If you grabbed a Twitter archive recently, make sure to go and grab the original/higher-res images before you delete your account. They're not included in your archive.

Also, do yourself a favor and update the timestamp of your media to the time of the post. You can then browse images in chronological order.

@paulrickards I vaguely recall using a Python script someone made for this purpose. Since it gives you a JSON file with all the URLs of the full size images IIRC.

@vga256 @arroz from what I recall it was also meant as a a bookshelf audio CD player, like w/o a computer. So it’s got that appliance look! And the dock too?

@vga256 the wedge does take batteries however! 8 AA batteries (just checked) which is enough for like 1h of playback apparently.. Not sure what the point of that is. But yeah, for sure Apple had other plans for that dock connector!

@vga256 is it was definitely made to be also used as a stereo unit not necessary by a computer, hooked up to speakers. And by a TV, to play PhotoCDs. Maybe people could buy docks and move it around.
