Ever wish your Commodore 64 was a luggable? Found a Vintage Commodore SX-64 Home Computer on Goodwill. It’s at $206.23 right now with bidding ending on May 7th at 7:02 PM. I don’t have one of these, but have seen them at VCF Midwest. Quite interesting machines, though I’m not super surprised they didn’t do well commercially. Just not enough of a business market for C64s. But great collectors piece, check it out here: https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/197878018#GoodWill#auction#retrocomputing#Commodore
Get ready to tune in your tape recorders! On May 8th at 9:30 pm, we'll be airing computer programs over the airwaves! Tune in to the frequency 89.3 FM to catch a broadcast of a ZX Spectrum game. After tuning in to the radio, you'll have the opportunity to record the game onto your tape. Then, you can play it on your Spectrum and dive right into the gaming experience!
Took a bit of fiddling and diddling and coersing, but I got the G4 booting off a CF card and now we’re ready to video conference like it’s 1998! #RetroComputing
When I decided to try to build up some development momentum by restarting the Ray Tracing Challenge but with Dart/Flutter it was a toss up between that idea and deep diving into some retro coding on an Apple II. I briefly thought, "Why not do both?" Har har har. Well, it turns out someone did just that. A ray tracer in BASIC on a ZX Spectrum. #RetroComputing#RetroGaming#programming#ZXSpectrum#BASICgabrielgambetta.com/zx-raytrac…
Got my hands on an old Mac Mini G4 PPC and immediately installed NetBSD 10 #macppc. Good docs of course, including specific to the G4. Once you get the hang of partioning for Open Firmware 3, pretty straight forward. My first Apple product 😂
And of course we also need a new 6502... well, 65C02 for that matter. It doesn't have the illegal opcodes, but it'll have to do! #retrocomputing#mos6502
Is there anyone who knows about the internals of the #NeXTStep 3.3 finder/wm? It does some mount magic with CDROMs on inject/eject - but I cant find it documented or if there's API's to hook into that process.
Well, things are taking a potential turn. If anyone in the UK has £6k and can get a van to Basingstoke then they can come and pick up the contents of NerdHaven. It contains a whole bunch of #RetroGaming#RetroComputing systems, accessories and games including a pile of boxes PC Engine consoles, the whole of the PC Engine Volume collection and every Super Cassette Vision and Cassette vision game. Plus computers, tools and spares
What was your first OS? Mine was amiga workbench 1.3 Didn’t have a hard disk though, so needed to swap diskettes every time I needed to boot into it. Otherwise I would just see the kickstart in rom boot screen 😁 Ah the days.. #amiga#retrocomputing
I have learned I likely blew the fuse providing power to the external floppy drive on my Toshiba Portégé T3600CT. The crime? I plugged an IBM ThinkPad floppy drive with the SAME EXACT GODDAMN CONNECTOR into it. ThinkWiki says:
"ATTENTION!
Also Toshiba produced a cable with same connectors as IBM 74H0219. Toshiba 20mm connector pinout is different: at the very least, pins for power and ground are shorted relative to IBM. Tip by Ziginox."
