I found a bunch of recipes for smoked oyster dip -- main ingredients canned smoked oystersa and cream cheese, with assorted additions like dill, lemon zest, capers, smoked paprika, &c. Probably good with worcestershire sauce, too. About as cheap and easy as you can get, but it sounds like an umami explosion in your mouth.

I could see one with the smoked oysters and cream cheese w/ salt, pepper, the smoked paprika, cayenne, lemon, Worcester sauce and a good bit of garlic paste.

Also... it's a dip of course, but I'm wondering if it would also work to put on/in other things like it's a spread or filling 🤔

When I did a search for this for further reference it was because I was curious if there were fusion twists on this French dish.

Before I even clicked a couple of the search complete suggestions were Cuban or Cajun. Cajun was to be expected but the Cuban one was a surprise. Didn't look into Cuban chicken fricassee but I imagine it'd be nice (I was more thinking for my actual search Jamaican or Haitian tbh -- like keep the cream and mushroom gist and then bring it to that island spice, y'know?).

To me, early on my experience with it outside of basic chicken noodle was usually as shortcuts in making something else, which some to this day* work for. As soups standing alone... most I found meh then and I now think taste of shame and self hate (much like how I can't stand most instant ramen anymore without multiple tweaks to it).

(* - I once when money was low used a tomato soup plus butter, cream, canned chicken and some additional spices to make a cheapass riff on Butter Chicken - which I then tossed in microwave penne noodles and topped with mozzarella cheese cuz I wanted cheese & noodles instead of rice)

My view of most "cream of ___" soups is that they are nowhere near as rich and thick & creamy as they should be.

To me, if your cream of chicken soup doesn't damn near sit in my spoon like it is gravy... you fucked up.

It's sad that the media keeps acting like there's some magic behind Trump's appeal to Republican voters when the clear answer is that he says in plain terms the kind of bigotry & resentment that animates conservatism instead of ever using coded language because he's lived off of the idea of no such thing as bad press for decades & thus doesn't give a shit.

What most made me hate capitalism was learning the difference between how it was claimed to work and how capitalists actually think & want things to go.

For example: The fact of workers also being consumers seems to be a thing that capitalists rarely ever treat as given. Instead they act like customers grow on trees and stiffing labor doesn't mean workers buy less stuff.
