I hate hate hate how much of mainstream media will pick up on drag as part of a trans issue reinforcing the correlation. Yes, the ban on drag was primarily targeted towards trans individuals, yes there's times it overlaps. Drag is expressing yourself, people who do drag are typically cis. Personally I really like drag because it just shows a :fuckyou: to gendered clothing, most drag has that traditional masculine looking figure (with emphasis on the masculine part, not trying to say drag stars don't pass) it's just the aesthetic. Of course you'll always get republicans pointing to people who partake in drag using images of them to demonize trans people.
@puppygirlhornypost i think something to keep in mind is there are really two different things we call "drag" and one of them is the cool one and one of them is the Ru Paul one.
the replies so far have been absolutely fantastic, with people going WAY more in depth than i did. so i wanted to list a few more things and provide some resources.
they didnt mention cyproterone acetate or bicalutamide. cypro is the standard anti-androgen instead of spiro in most non-US parts of the world, and bical is a neat up-and-coming AA that im not personally too educated on. this video was very US-centric in a disturbing way.
the progesterone risk is only for some very specific, very rare formulations (norpregnane-derived progestins (norethindrone, norgestrel)), not what you are likely to be prescribed or given, and prog is considered a safe medication, but if you are concerned you can avoid those formulations.
blood clot risk does exist with high E doses, but that's a separate matter and again im not a doctor. i know i personally am at risk for this and need to keep my bp under control.
they fucked up a lot of trans masc stuff too (birth control is not hrt-lite!!!!) and one of yall may want to do a post on that
Here are some good references for learning about fem hrt. i particularly suggest transfemscience for a good overview of how it all works.
aaaaaand the stuff coming up in the replies now is out of my depth. im not an hrt expert, im fairly well knowledged i think, enough to call out all the nonsense in the video, but people are bringing up really fascinating things and i suggest starting from the original post and just giving the whole thread a read for some good learning. :)
