You have also traded your freedom.
The UK is currently talking about banning tobacco entirely in the name of reducing health costs despite it being a part of many cultures ceremonies and traditions. New York is still trying to control soda sizes in the name of public health. Canada now offers suicide as an option for people who would have a long (and costly) treatment with low probability of improving health.
There are some real Elon haters out there. I think they’re ugly as sin but I’m happy to see more people driving vehicles with all the crazy safety features, even if they aren’t perfect.
You’re in control of a massive vehicle capable of killing people and destroying property, you’re responsible for it.
I use Arch Linux, and some apps require me to use Windows. I have tried to get Wine working, but it’s just too much of a hassle. If the only goal of my virtualization setup is to run something like Adobe apps (I’m not doing any gaming on it), will Virtualbox or virt-manager be the quick and easy choice for me? I have tried...
Hi, I’m considering getting into Stargate. I only know it’s based on a movie and the franchise consists of 3 tv shows. I don’t know anything about the setting / plot....
Hold in there between the movie and the first season. Showtime realized it was a nerd show not softcore and sold it off to the SciFi channel when it was in it’s prime. That’s where it really blossomed.
There’s a lot to watch, rewatch and watch again in this series. Long running jokes, MacGyver references, long and short story arcs and while it does raise some morality and political issues it does it in a way that makes you think rather than beating you over the head with the writers preference.
Last July, San Jose issued an open invitation to technology companies to mount cameras on a municipal vehicle that began periodically driving through the city’s district 10 in December, collecting footage of the streets and public spaces. The images are fed into computer vision software and used to train the companies’...
Do you really think the concerns about encampments are all from rent seeking landlords?
Here in Minneapolis it’s the number of murders, gang violence (territory), rape, and human trafficking.
Second tier issues are overdoses, fires, sanitation (which doesn’t sound like much until you see the people with fingers and toes rotting off), and crime rates increasing as they try to make enough money to feed their drug habits.
It’s a very complex issue. Much more complex than “the landlords are upset people aren’t paying rent”.
Yeah, it turns out that politicians in both parties are garbage people pandering to the masses.
Instead of voting along party lines people need to vote for real people that can act like adults and actually govern. Most of our government officials are now too busy passing meaningless resolutions, performing the same study that’s popular in all the other cities, or busy on social media pandering to vocal minorities.
I have a Ryzen 3 1300X at the moment and it’s always had this soft lock freezing bug on Linux. I used to dual-boot Windows on this machine and Windows never had the same problem, so I think it is an issue with the Linux kernel (I’ve also replaced nearly every bit of hardware that I originally built the PC with, except for...
Relying on cultural hot topics rather than real character building killed this show. The spore drive was also kinda “out there” though interesting. I wish the best for the cast.
That’s what they said about Internet Explorer right up until the moment where Microsoft wanted everyone to switch to Edge. Not only could you suddenly uninstall it, but it even started uninstalling itself!
Ubtuntu Desktop definitely tries to push a few things but it’s not even remotely as bad as Windows.
I prefer to live without my software nudging me to do anything.
