sfbing,

“You chose books, I chose looks.”

sfbing,

Unfortunately, that would effectively be a vote for Trump.

sfbing,

Let’s have all three. They are not conflicting goals.

sfbing,

My understanding is that PepsiCo is also one of the biggest of the corporations that declined to leave Russia as a result of the invasion of Ukraine.

sfbing,

Thx for the update.

sfbing,

I am in my 60s now. I figure this will start to kick in any day now.

sfbing,

I had left the thread before this sank in, and had to come back in to upvote. I agree, he is off limits again.

sfbing,

From reading the text, I speculate that Franklin was alluding to the preexisting saying as well – alluding to the cat in the dark as an accepted axiom.

sfbing,

That might be a winter-time concern, but for summertime it is hogwash. The air conditioners need to run when the sun is out.

sfbing,

Old people like MTG and Boebert and Gaertz? /s

sfbing,

Agreed. For the Senate race, Katie Porter is the progressive choice, endorsed by Elizabeth Warren.

bpr.berkeley.edu/…/katie-porter-is-the-progressiv…

Her competitor, Adam Schiff, is the old-school Nancy Pelosi choice. He has been running ads that boost the Republican Steve Garvey in an attempt to eliminate Porter from the race.

sfbing,

NaoPb! You must marry this girl! She has huge … tracts of land!

And no singing!

Sorry – it is a reference to Monty Python, where a father is trying to get his son to marry.

Edit: as one of your honorary fathers, I advise you to go watch the movie, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”

sfbing,

So – I had to check that out, so that I can use it. Here’s a citation, or at least a corroboration:

sfbing,

I had been planning to watch – from the comfort of my toasty warm living room – just to see the snowy spectacle.

Not since about 25 years ago. It was spun off from PepsiCo in 1997. And in fact it was not called Yum until sometime later than that – it was never Yum under PepsiCo.

Edit to add: I still don’t go there, of course.

sfbing,

I was sure that Buddy had done this, in “Elf”, but I looked it up and that had been maple syrup. This looks even better.

I wonder how much money it takes to rebuild a blown engine in a new BMW 3-Series nowadays?

Edit: so I went and had a brief look in Google. It looks like they run between $6000 and $12000 depending on how powerful the engine is. So for a base model it would indeed be somewhat cheaper.

sfbing,

That’s an analogy that might appeal to the LE types.

sfbing,

I feel personally attacked by this comment.

sfbing,

… and Nemo was taken from Jules Verne.

sfbing,

That’s a separate issue from pay scales. Quality of the courseware should be enforced by the institution regardless of pay rates.

But I am also curious, which campus is this?
