I was seeking an annoying rattle in the driver’s door pocket of my car. I pulled out some lotto tickets and a car park ticket.

Now, I don’t do the lotto, and I’ve not driven this car in Chichester.

Then I clocked the date. I bought the car in 2015… These have been in that door pocket all this time and I didn’t even know!

I got seen, but told to make it brief, which annoyed me as I had arrived ten minutes before my appointment. Luckily I only needed an extension of my fit note. All done now, still raining on the walk home. Happy to be inside and I’ve just put a snuggly jumper on

Making a scene

My secondary school, which I attended from 1976 to 1980, had a particularly well-stocked library. Being the nerd that I am, I was drawn to the 20th century history section, avidly reading all kinds of works on the Second World War. It was in this library that my lifetime obsession with the Battle of Britain was born. But, there was also another book that caught my attention.

We know it fits, just not in the way I’d like so other things can go in the space.

Anyway, we managed a small adventure to the local Asda. We’ve not been there before. We may well go again.

The problem is getting Best Beloved in and out of the house. We have two shallow steps at the front door, but his knees tend not to accept bending and lifting.

I’ll call the social services and see what they think might work.
