Thing that kills me about "just rewrite in Rust" energy is that yes, if you translate the O(n^2) algorithm to Rust it is indeed faster, but you still have an O(n^2) algorithm. Maybe think about the problem more abstractly first?

I wish RubyGems had some kind of "org owner" type thing. There are gems effectively owned by previous employers, but nobody on the owners list works there anymore. Fortunately current employees are able to reach former employees, but this seems like a fragile system

I need to think about this more, but my initial take is that writing extensions for Ruby in Rust is not a good idea. Many of Ruby's C APIs are macros, so Rust extensions end up reimplementing the macros in Rust which couples the implementation with Ruby's internal data structures. It's extremely unsafe as Ruby's internal data structures could change and now the Rust code is just broken with no compiler warnings.

When you hit t on GitHub, it lets you search files inside the repo. It used to be that immediately after hitting t, the search box got focus so you could immediately type. Now you have to click in to the search box before you can type. I never noticed how much I cared about that feature until it stopped working 😆

I wish Siri could understand multiple languages at the same time. When I'm using Carplay and I get texts in Japanese, Siri will say "__ sent a message I can't read". But if my phone is connected via bluetooth, Google Assistant will happily read both English and Japanese.
