I'm sure it's problematic in like 2 dozen different ways, and I respect all of those arguments but Big Trouble in Little China is a top 5 movie for me.
@tqbf can be said about many excellent films he’s in. also props for the golden child reference. the blood in the oatmeal scene is what comes to mind because it’s just weird, man.
PSA: the best italian sausage in Chicagoland is a grocery store brand; specifically, Caputos spicy, the coil. You can go to Paulina, PQM, Bari and Carnivore, grill them all side by side. I'm right about this. It's a weird Chicago fact.
(I'm like 80% sure Caputos spicy is the sausage Johnny's uses).
@ben Amazon used to be good at customer service but no longer. I got a delivery confirmation photo showing a box delivered to the wrong address (clearly so - the wrong address was posted on the house!) and all they did was say “thanks for the feedback” when I reported it.
Like…now what, Jeffrey? Are you going to redeliver? Refund? Send me another box of likely counterfeit shit from LIVFHRD, Inc? Who knows!
If you buy like, stuff on the internet you should really check and see if you have any Shop app cash because PenTestersToolkit takes it at an absolutely insanely good rate. I have like 5 bucks of Shop cash and I can pick a number of bump keys or Great Scott stuff for free
@hacks4pancakes this is also a great way to support smaller businesses — I’ve used leftover shop dollars at places I’d probably never have found otherwise. It’s why I have a new favorite soap vendor… weird but true!
Anyone around #chicago have #tmobile 5g home internet? Just looking for experiences. We are having work done 9n our building that is going to effect our #rcn connection during the work, and we are considering switching to #tmobile, at least during the work.
@Biachibike I use it as backup internet near Grand/Halsted. Here’s a graph of the last 30 days worth of speed tests. You can see that during the day the tower gets fairly busy so speeds dip a bit - but it’s always been quite usable.
On my iPhone 13 mini I’m seeing this notification a lot recently. At the weekend while driving, using the phone with CarPlay for navigation and music streaming, which I understand. But during the week it keeps popping up when the phone is on the desk inducting charger. Just me?
@popey happens on my 13 pro when I leave it on the car seat and sun hits it for awhile. wireless charging heats it up a lot too, so it’s not a surprise. but, I wonder if they’ve changed the thresholds because I’ve previously not seen that error - ever.
Some years ago, Bose was on top of the world with noise-cancelling headphones. All they had to do was make the ANC tech incrementally better over time, and change nothing else. It's the easiest playbook on the planet, how did they manage to fuck it up so badly?
In current year 2023, my headphones crash and drop audio at least twice a day. The app forces me to sign in again every single time I open it. Sometimes the headphones connect to computers but don't advertise that they can do audio.
@danderson Sony has taken over this segment in a big way. You’ll enjoy them. If you wear them for long periods, I highly recommend replacement pads from Dekoni. The suede-texture is excellent.
#Netflix's sharing crackdown makes sense. They tested it elsewhere and wouldn't roll it out in the largest market if it didn't work. Between pushing people to ad-subsidized models and pushing people to pay or get lost, they're improving their bottom line. Most tech folks who find it objectionable aren't their target. The people sharing with dozens or the distributed family will shrug and either stop sharing and continue paying (win for NF) or add users/spawn new accounts (win for NF).
