Powering through the "I've bitten off more than I can chew with this fic" feelings as hard as I can. I will simply Not See this self-doubt until it's posted.
it's posted! it's late despite the extension i got! it definitely needs another editing pass when i have, you know. slept. but i even gave it a title, be proud of me.

Now I'm wondering is pontianak more well known than jiangshi?
... I have a feeling most people's exposure to pontianak is through Zen Cho. But then there was that spate of HK jiangshi comedy horror, that jiangshi board game, and I'm pretty sure there were other jiangshi media...
@geraineon I think I first reac about both of them from kids’ books on vampires when I was very young, eight or nine. Hyperfixation. 😊 (I can still remember the exact illustration of the jiangshi or ‘Chinese vampire’ in my favourite book!) I don’t recall if I learned their actual names, though, and I certainly didn’t remember them long term.
@liztai I thought it was too hard to write for ages and ages, and then suddenly realised I could do it from muscle memory if I was writing text and not thinking about the characters 🤔
I had some unexpected waiting time in the museum café today, so I wrote a bit of my #MXTXRemix fic. Can’t remember the last time I actually wrote prose in longhand! When I was a kid, it made my hand hurt; as an adult, I’m used to the word-processor convenience of being able to rearrange my words whenever I like. Writing in pencil seems to help somewhat.
Currently writing fic that really no one will want to read, in an attempt to dispell the brainworms that have been distracting me all week. I feel like I should apologise in advance. 😅
I have an account there at cohost too (mostly just to park my username there) but genuinely, this is not a sustainable way to go on (re: rich friend donation)
@geraineon oh wow, what a string of YIKES! I knew about the lolicon/cub debates, which I think was around the time I left cohost (unrelatedly), but all the rest was new to me.
Zhang Ping has a new boss who can’t stand him, thinks he’s a smartass sent to spy on him, and keeps yelling at him… and he’s right (except for the spying part)! Get that boy some forensic rigour, Feng Tai!
Zhang Ping, meanwhile, is grateful for all these useful tips. His new boss really cares about helping him improve! It gives him a warm feeling.
