It is indeed an odd experience to be part of the 1% of the human population who was not swept up by the #Untamed craze and kept failing to be swept up by it despite numerous times trying to.
I tried reading the novel, watched the donghua and even the #Cdrama and could not last more than a couple of episodes. People tell me to "soldier on" for a few more EPs but I couldn't I just couldn't.
Also tried reading the author's other books & just ๐ด
@liztai I like it first of all because of the way the story sets up so many clashing but inescapable relationships and responsibilities between characters that there's no way all of them can be satisfied. It made me very invested in the different ways each character tried to navigate that. That's a kind of story I love but don't find all that often.
I'm also staggeringly weak for the tropes of secret identities and characters trying to make a new life in the shadow of their violent past, and MDZS delivered on that, haha. I was pretty much doomed to like it for that alone.
I liked the Untamed a lot because of the chemistry between the actors, and because it was so pretty! It was also interesting to see how it was adapted from the novel, since my watching and reading overlapped somewhat.
ok I managed to disable ipv6 and get the Haskell compiler installed, but still... am not anywhere near figuring out how to install espial. Also, am getting a little-- I mean. I know this is probably intended for people more knowledgeable than me. But I feel like I'm mostly at a point where I can follow instructions wrt Linux systems! And it seems like maybe some important parts of the instructions are missing? Like, the "download espial" part? Sure, I guess that's implied, but like... idk getting bit of a draw the rest of the fucking owl vibe from this readme
OMG. The Sword Named No Way Out is tl-ed completely! I didn't realize another group has picked it up!
It's by Huai Shang (probably most famous in EN danmei circles for Po Yun, Tun Hai), and i really enjoyed it up till ch 81 where it was dropped previously, and I felt that i couldn't recommend it because it was kinda a cliffhanger. Now I can! (No, I have not finished reading. I just found out)
@geraineon yeah, itโs not something I feel too qualified to comment on because itโs one of the cultural differences thatโs been made emblematic of the โEastโ/โWestโ โdivideโ, but itโs definitely the kind of principle that can get very bad if taken to extremes!
@Forestofglory my friend gave me a bag of pecan flavour sunflower seeds, so I am trying to teach myself to eat them in private before I have to attempt it in front of people. It's tricky! https://www.wikihow.com/Eat-Sunflower-Seeds
it's also reminding me of Song Lan in one of my fics, trying to ask some villagers questions while they're eating sunflower seeds and having a bad time with it.
@geraineon@Forestofglory oh thank goodness, thatโs going to make it so much easier. Putting the whole thing in the mouth seems like a level-up technique for when both hands are busy.
