The past 6 months of my tech life have been weird.

I've tried a bunch of different computers, apps, and services that ultimately didn't work out for me. The journey was necessary to help me understand what I truly like about Apple. I had to do it.

We're now three weeks from WWDC, and I couldn't be more excited about what is coming next. Whether it's iPadOS 17, macOS 14, or – especially – xrOS, I can't wait for June and beyond.

Three weeks to go! 😎

sometimes I think about all the international drama we could have avoided if only Apple said "let's make iPhones work like Macs for installing apps"

If Apple brings Live Activities to iPad and Mac this year, I almost wonder if they should be compact, real-time widgets in the status bar / menu bar. 🤔

(The iPadOS status bar feels especially empty these days and there's plenty of room there.)

One way or another, it always goes back to GUI scripting in the end.

I never played the original Super Mario RPG, so I'm thrilled to see a proper remaster coming this year: https://youtu.be/0r5PJx7rlds

And a brand new 2D Super Mario Bros. game that looks like complete, fun chaos? Sign me up. https://youtu.be/JStAYvbeSHc

The Journal app is now on the App Store. Says it requires iOS 17.2.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere yet, but Stage Manager for iPadOS 17 also comes with a new 'fast app pairing' feature.

This is a new multitouch-based option to quickly pair an app with another app/set of apps.

Just hold down on a window, then tap apps in the dock or the left strip to quickly pair them with the app you're holding.

I really like this new method when using my iPad in touch mode.

I found an excuse to write about Tears of the Kingdom on @macstories 😄

If you're playing the game and taking notes, you have to try the TotK Travel Guide app by @jeffreykuiken. Great UI inspired by Apple Maps with a built-in note-taking system for locations in the game. Syncs with iCloud, has a single $4 In-App Purchase, and it supports the 3 different maps of the game. I love this.

I love Obsidian so much, and yet its iPad app drives me crazy. Two equally true statements.

A couple of weeks ago, @jeremyburge was in Greece and told me "I have a small something to send you".

I got the package today and it's peak Jeremy Burge:

  • Sender was "Jeremy Burge, on a boat"
  • Recipient was Federico "iOS Master" Viticci
  • He was in Ios, Greece and saw an opportunity 😂

Everything about this is perfect

ah yes, post-iPad event bad takes. One of my favorite moments that occurs once every 18 months, like an eclipse of Apple pundits

Got in my car this morning and drove for 10 seconds before everything started beeping. Completely flat tire.

Called for an on-site repair, tire is now okay, and the guy is like, here's a little gift for you.

Pro tip: if you hear a ticking sound when driving, check your tires carefully 😅

I just finished watching Memento as part of my new movie quest this year (more on Unwind this week), and I feel two things:

  • Nolan's a genius
  • My brain is fried for the day

The new Ridiculous Fishing EX is out on Apple Arcade and, wow, I'm in love. The new graphics, smartphone "apps", funny references, haptics, gameplay progression.

This return of a classic couldn't have been better. 😍
