Nintendo literally listened to people who said "I wish I could experience Breath of the Wild for the first time again" and they delivered a bigger, better, more fun, more interesting game that recaptures that magic in new ways.

The past 6 months of my tech life have been weird.

I've tried a bunch of different computers, apps, and services that ultimately didn't work out for me. The journey was necessary to help me understand what I truly like about Apple. I had to do it.

We're now three weeks from WWDC, and I couldn't be more excited about what is coming next. Whether it's iPadOS 17, macOS 14, or – especially – xrOS, I can't wait for June and beyond.

Three weeks to go! 😎

I've wanted Apple to integrate concert schedules and set lists into Apple Music for years, so today's announcement has me very excited.

If done well, this could be excellent for live music fans and support for Maps guides makes sense.

I’ve been beta testing the new Pocket design for what feels like ages and i hate to say this but it is a terrible regression.

Basically everything I used Pocket for is now worse — article rendering, customization, search (wholly broken!) — and its trying more than ever to get me to spend time or click on things I haven’t directly saved myself.

Apple is pre-announcing some Accessibility features likely coming to iOS 17 later this year, and we have the details on @macstories.

Two features are especially a big deal:

  • Personal Voice will let users who are at risk of losing their voice create a synthetic version of it. All done with Neural Engine on-device.

  • Assistive Access is a brand new, simplified UI mode for iPhone and iPad that streamlines the entire UI.

Before I got sidetracked by xrOS, I ran a search through the New Zealand trademark database and found that Apple (via the shell cos) has active trademarks for Condor, Tiburon, Farallon, Rincon, Redwood, Shasta, Redtail, Redwood, Skyline, Sonoma, and Seqouia.

They do not however have active trademarks there for Diablo, Miramar, Pacific, Grizzly, or Mammoth.

Redwood, Redtail, Tiburon, Condor, and Farallon were just renewed in January of this year for an additional 10 years 👀

As an American that has grown up on dine-and-dash culture, I am legitimately agitated by Europe’s laissez-faire restaurant service. You never get water refills without asking for them, the server seldom comes to check on you, and your bill comes like 20 minutes after you request it. It’s flabbergasting.

@snazzyq (My perspective: going to restaurants in America is often stress-inducing. Staff checks on you every x minutes and they put ice in water? And they constantly pour it. Very odd.)

If Apple brings Live Activities to iPad and Mac this year, I almost wonder if they should be compact, real-time widgets in the status bar / menu bar. 🤔

(The iPadOS status bar feels especially empty these days and there's plenty of room there.)
