Not an astronomer but if I read the article correctly the observations gathered about galaxies rotating and colliding would be explained instead by regional changes in what were previously assumed universal constants, which would be very interesting if true but 1 paper isn’t consensus yet

There’s an old scam that runs the same way. On a 2 outcome wager like which team wins a game send 500 people prediction team A wins and 500 people team B wins. For the 500 people who got the right one send 250 team C wins and the other 250 team D wins. By the time you’re down to ~7 people they all received 7 winning predictions in a row, then you ask them for a bet on a ‘sure thing’ for the 8th game.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Venomous_lizards has 6 all in central and North America so it’s pretty rare, but at least in the US gila is widely known to be venomous and iirc reading about komodo dragons if they don’t kill you outright in an attack the bacteria in their mouth can cause infection and reactions similar to venom.

Told a family member the same when she almost got tricked by a scammer & called me to see if it was legit. They wouldn’t try it if it wasn’t convincing enough to catch people in the scam to make it worth their time to do this crime instead of some other.

I guess I was never really clear why we need a president in the first place and the bullshit power centralization it’s grown over time to include beyond civilian leadership of the military and veto power when Congress is useless at restraining the executive under checks and balances for example executive orders. If you want a public figurehead pick someone in the Senate most of them barely work anyways. Crisis management should be it’s own department not just up to whoever won the last popularity contest.

They had plenty of facts according to them until recently, it’s just those facts were unsubstantiated lies fed to them by Russian intelligence according to the operative who confessed he was working for Russia when he lied about the info to the FBI that the GOP were crowing about on Fox entertainews as extremely credible.

What do they even have to discuss anyways? It’s not like the GOP even bothers with a policy platform anymore other than hurt outsiders, obstruct, and get money. The RNC “learn more” link to their platform just directs to a list of committee procedures. Even if there are individuals with integrity they have mostly left or retired, with the remaining standing for nothing but greed and paranoia, aligning politically with authoritarian dictators. The electoral college is going to bury us propping up two parties if GOP cannot clean house and a thirty party cannot gain political momentum to compete with the democratic party.
