Is there a reason why "Likes" are that slow with the mobile webinterface, independently of the browser? Can it be improved? After clicking the icon, i have to wait 10-20 seconds before the like is shown/activated and to make sure it's there. Just scrolling further after clicking can cancel it. Comments or shares are instant. That is the only thing bugging me with the webinterface, everything else is just fine.

Does Friendica not support uploading audio? Tried uploading an MP3 but both times I couldn't find the uploaded file in the posting interface.
I'm also using Windows and noticed I had to select all file types to find my MP3 to upload. So maybe Friendica doesn't disallow non-images but the file selection makes it seem like it might.
You may want to add your voice to that feature request and show you are affected by this by adding your thumbs up to the issue.

Since the first day I have been using XMPP, and that's been quite a while ago, I have been wishing for such a feature. Stoked that in the near future Message Displayed Synchronization will be a reality โค๏ธ

I want to create a new functionality and I need some ideas. I want to add an option to contacts, so that their posts don't appear in the network timeline anymore. But in difference to "ignored", "collapsed" or "blocked" this has got no further consequences. It is meant especially for contacts that you want to aggregate in a dedicated channel. So for example you could decide to subscribe to a lot of news channels, but you don't want to see them in the network timeline, since they post that often. Instead you create a channel for them and browse them from time to time. Same could be an option for groups or for feeds.
This filter would work for threads that are started by this special account. I would try to expand this to posts that are reshared by these accounts or by threads that are fetched, because this account commented in the thread. (The last two parts could be more challenging)
My questions are:
Do you think that this is a good idea?
Could it be done better than an option on the contact page?
How could this be named, so that users don't misunderstand the functionality?
Sure, but we donโt even do the "I don't want to see posts from that contact" very well, so I donโt think we should add yet another similar confusing feature.
๐ This. For as long as I have been using Friendica I had trouble understanding what Ignore and Block actually do. I blocked a ton of contacts and yet I keep seeing posts from them. Maybe this is logical in some technical way, but I think it isn't what users expect to happen when blocking a contact.
Instead of adding yet another mechanism, maybe before doing that, Ignore and Block should be improved. Maybe we need to have a discussion about those functionalities.
Anyone out there using Friendica with mobile #Firefox on #Android? Tried it again for a while this weekend but eventually gave up (again) because, in the web UI on my device, Friendica / frio became almost unusable while trying to "@" - mention some user. Either loading or displaying suggestions / completions seems incredibly slow here. Is this just me? Any other experiences?
@z428 Works fine here with latest RC branch of friendica, frio theme and current Firefox stable on Android 13.1. Assuming a problem with your instance, which Matthias seems to confirm.
Now that my favorite browser #Firefox and beloved password manager #KeePassXC both support #Passkeys decided to spent some time checking them out.
And boy oh boy are passkeys not ready yet in Firefox. I love Firefox and wish them well, but they really need to do some testing. There are major issues.

Now that all major desktop browsers support #Passkeyscaniuse.com/passkeys is there an effort happening to create browser level APIs open to everybody to ensure passkeys can be used effectively?
While #1Password open sourced their implementation blog.1password.com/passkey-craโฆ of #passkey-crates the question is: is any work happening on Passkey APIs for browser extensions (i.a. password managers) to use.
While it is great to see big tech move the needle on this and announce their implementations and push this technology, it is a pity those efforts seem to focus around siloing and limiting passkey usage to their implmenetation / tech.
For example Apple makes it impossible for e.g. @keepassxc to generate passkeys in the browser.
Are there plans to work on open browser APIs? is there any public info / efforts you are aware of and can share @rmondello? Specifically for #macOS it would be great if Passkey creation / authentication could be used via Apple APIs.
Today I discovered that I can't participate in polls, either from the web version or from any app.
Oddly enough, only whalebird shows me correctly the poll options and I can even choose the one I like, but the submit button doesn't seem to have any effect.
Is this a friendica problem in general or could it be a bug unique to my instance ( on #Yunohost )?
Would it be possible to have the stock Diaspora* colour theme applied to a Friendica frio frontend? I feel quite well using Friendica web even on mobile devices by now but somehow the Diaspora* colours are a bit ... more convenient at least on my eyes...
@z428 Right, I am still trying to understand, which aspects you dislike the most about the default frio theme options. The shadow thing isn't frio specific but dark mode specific in general I guess.
@z428 I agree. This is specific to the dark appearance. Could you please file an issue for this specific issue please, ideally with a color code you propose to be used for dark appearance and 2 screenshots of the current implementation?

In meinen Augen sind Reaktionen (Emoticons) wesentlich sinnvoller als Daumen hoch und Daumen runter, da sie Meinungen sehr viel besser transportieren kรถnnen als diese. Und schneller als einen Text zu tippen ist es allemal. Zumal man darรผber ja auch Daumen hoch und Daumen runter darstellen kann.
@helpers One of the distinct disadvantages, afaict, with the #Friendica web UI [ie, using a browser] compared to Mastodon, is the inability to see / access / use the Compose Post box unless one is scrolled to the top of the timeline. In Masto, with both its default & #AdvancedWebInterface UI views, the Compose box is always visible, hence available, regardless of any other timeline status. Tbh i find this restriction really frustrating in F.
For various reasons in F i prefer the Vier UI display option over Frio, but afaict my objection pertains to both.
Is there possibly some option buried in Settings that i might have missed, which when enabled makes the Compose Post box available any time, eg, from a top bar link as a popup modal?
Is there some AddOn for this that Friendica server owners could install that remedies this problem?
In absence of anything better, my inefficient workaround is to open a second tab of my F account, in which i then access the box to compose & send my impromptu post, without disturbing my position in my scrolled timeline in the original tab [eg, first thing each morning i scroll down & review all new posts since yesterday, but often think of something i want to say or ask that's not tied to any individual post i might be contemporaneously reading atm, six hours down my timeline].
The lack of this feature is, why I mostly read my friendica timeline on Android with @pachli client which indeed supports remembering the reading position.
In Frio > Settings > Display > Custom Theme Settings has a checkbox option to Always open Compose page.
Can you specify what exactely you dislike about Frio UI? Statements like "utterly chaotic" are not helpful when trying to learn what to improve.
I agree the different buttons (New post / Mention) are confusing and unexpected. I personally think I'd prefer to always see a New Post button, since for replies I can always click / tap the reply icon. And then there is locations which do not show a button at all.
Would be great if you could write down all occasions with the current and desired state and file this as feature request on GitHub.
