You know what would be nice? Knowing that if you can read/place/open one image file format in one Creative Cloud product, you will be able to work with it in another Adobe Creative Cloud program as well.

Well.

That's not the future we're living in.

This is my ninth year of having goslings here, and I'm still amazed by how big they are at three weeks old. They're fully waterproof (the top layer of fluff gets a bit soggy but the undercoat is now feathers) and safe to leave out with the adults.

You will read stuff about goslings on the internet like "goslings can be taken off heat at 6 weeks old" and WHAT?! Wild geese fly up to the Arctic to breed! Goslings are tough as old boots, and under good grazing conditions they grow like mushrooms.

Given my experience that editors will routinely skip over graphics when editing an article, I'm not at all surprised this happened …

I'm currently looking into automation in graphic design, and, uh … everything I can find in today's search engines is «This is how you remove a background with remove.bg» 🤪

xeophin,

@uauage Mostly for info- and explainer graphics for a daily newspaper. I have to think more about it, but I suspect that the highly individual nature of these graphics makes it difficult to automate or template. There’s probably just potential on the „edges“ of the process (exporting, handover, archival and such).

xeophin,
@xeophin@vis.social avatar

@uauage What tools are you using in the process, if I may be so curious?

xeophin,
@xeophin@vis.social avatar

@uauage I see, very nice!

At this point I have to assume that political parties create their corporate designs especially to fuck up data vis – how are we supposed to define one colour for them if their main colours are

  • bright green and magenta (Swiss green party)
  • light blue, magenta and yellow (German FDP)
  • a gradient from dark red to orange (Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht)
  • blue and yellow (German Freie Wähler)
  • dark blue and yellow (German Werteunion)

Ugh.

In this year's several stories and videos by got awarded.

In one of them I had a small part: https://www.nzz.ch/english/the-rocket-that-changed-everything-in-apartment-block-2b-three-ukrainian-families-struggle-with-the-consequences-of-putins-terror-campaign-ld.1755965

In this story @dominicnahr and Jonas Roth visited an apartment block in Zaporizhzhia, , that got damaged by a Russian missile. Dominic used to scan the apartments which I then recreated using .

Very happy that this collaboration with @adinarenner, Alex Kräuchi and Franco Gervasi got the recognition it deserves.

New hobby: reporting scam ads on YouTube. The more I report the more I get.

Usually footage of Elon Musk or a TV clip paired with a “how to get rich fast” voice over. Usually made by “companies” in Hong Kong or Eastern Europe.

This is so disturbing and disgusting. I’d be fine skipping real ads but I only get this shit. Is this a tactic to get me to buy YouTube Premium?

xeophin,
@xeophin@vis.social avatar

@gustavneustadt @getflourish @tuomas_h Can confirm, I'm using 1Blocker, too, works fine so far. YouTube has started to complain about the ad blocker, though.

Well – on their desktop site, anyway. The mobile version works fine with the ad blocker😆
