True for digital goods THEY are supposed to own, but also consider how dominated we are with OUR digital property. I have witnessed how readily tech giants will abuse their position, abuse the power of defaults, weaponize psychology, and feign deletion… even against my lowly grandma. They think nothing of effectively stealing one’s digital photos, using them for their own purposes, and giving them to the police, so they can destroy your life and your dog.
I deal with a lot of VMs for varying purposes, and it seems frequent that my purpose for opening firefox is derailed by some kind of nag. For example, I frequently get the “you haven’t used firefox in a while” in vms that I rarely use firefox and have to go disable the “meta refresh” option in the “about:config”....
Seems to imply it’s the exception and not the rule. It’s hard enough to figure out what I want/need for myself, why would someone’s guess or random whim be better? Just toss it on the pile of stuff people expect me to keep b/c they gave it to me…
Is water proofing really a bigger deal than the 3.5mm audio jack? Subjectively, I use the jack nearly every day, and have not dropped a phone into a toilet even once.
Assuming it is ever right to cage a human as punishment, i guess one would need a special room on the exterior wall of the prison.
Inside the room (and prison?) both are unencumbered (the free one is just visiting for the twins sake), but in order to leave (as one has the right to) the other must don one of those shrouds from the Foundation series.
