I was usimg Kagi a few months ago. Then I started selfhosting a SearXNG instance. I love the customizability. I dislike how they are also getting into AI just like other big tech.

Self hosting is better than using someone else’s product. I also want to self host my email, but they say it’s a pain in the ass and hard to maintain.

Thanks for the links, they’re interesting.

While I do think this is wrong, security != privacy

4chan privacy

Does 4chan respects user privacy? How much data are they collecting? Are they selling/sharing it with 3rd parties? I’m asking because it’s not possible to post anonymously (each individual post being anonymous without your username visible) on lemmy, and users here told me I could check out 4chan for this feature....

I visit 4chan a few times a month. The only thing I remember all the time is their soramimi cake 4chan version

Do you leave a tip for housekeeping if you're only staying one night in a hotel?

Is it a ‘thank you for prepping my room’ or ‘please clean my room today’? If you tip post cleaning, it’s likely going to someone else the next day. Many hotels now only do housekeeping on demand. How do employees feel about this - do they miss the tips or are they happy for a less stressful workday?...

I was surprised when I first heard about workers getting tipped regularly in america. It’s crazy.

I do see it weird but publishing on F-Droid means almost nothing. If you are scared of their pre-built apks, compile from source instead.

The NTSYNC driver should be merged for emulating Windows NT synchronization primitives for speeding up Windows games running on Wine / Steam Play (Proton). (Update:) But it looks like so far only the basic NTSYNC driver patches are in char-misc-next and currently not the entire complete series.

Very nice. Gaming on Linux slowly starts to be no problem at least for me.

I like that weird smirk. It’s charming in a weird way.

  1. I’ll see what I can do.
  2. I actually already have an anime recommendation system, but it’s for MAL. And it only works if you already have a bunch of different animelists. I might have to make another one, or have the recommendations be user-submitted like in MAL.

Yeah, I’ve set a minimum limit for animelists. Your animelist appears to be smaller than 50 so it won’t be processed. This is not because it can’t, but because I manually set it so that anime newbies don’t get bad quality recommendations. It has something to do with how the algorithm works.

Or if you really need to, you encrypt them.

I remember reading the W3C or FIDO Alliance docs for passkeys and they talked about the exportability of them. I think they said that they shouldn’t be exportable.
