Would be neat to have it in a Linux laptop. I don’t want an even worse Windows keyboard (the win and menu key was always moronic and inferior to meta, but it’s getting worse now!) though, and Windows with copilot+ is just incredibly super creepy. So maybe someone will finally build an actual Linux laptop with a sensible and useful keyboard.
I don’t even want to know what it’s reporting back on, but nothing you do on your computer would be even remotely a little bit private. That is creepy.

Installable on generic x86 hardware (and ARM if that happens). Basically the Windows version of the Steam Deck. Stay in XBox for gaming, and optionally “drop into” windows (if you install that part).
Instant Windows gaming library, Game Pass, and store.
Not that I’m advocating for it per se, just baffles me that they haven’t had the idea.

Lackluster exclusives, Sony/Nintendo not being dumb enough to allow Gamepass, and poor leadership and now they are boned.
Feel bad for the workers. The XBox isn’t actually bad, nor are their IPs (which mostly have been unused). Leadership just isn’t people who get it.

Gah. Why are the anime I watched apparently clumped up and aired in the same few days? I just got real sad when there was no S3E3 yet for Konosuba. There’s a few shows I’m thinking of starting, but this waiting a week is just ruining the momentum and bumming me out.
Dropping a whole season at once is superior in every dang way I think.
@yon With the current state of anime production, it's optimized for weekly episodes because many studios schedule to finish the episode almost just in time, and often fail to do so. :leafeonmoney:
Anime relies a lot on hype. Dropping all episodes at once can be detrimental to the hype cycle as ANOTHER show steals everyone's eyeballs and minds. Longer hype cycles helps with giving more time to do marketing, e.g. seiyuu events, radio etc. Many of these also provide a buffer for the actual important people, the PRODUCTION COMMITTEE to earn their money by selling more merch, music, manga etc. :leafeonmoney:
It’s having a reverse effect on me instead. My only motivation is the I hate getting spoiled (I will literally drop a show or not watch it if it was spoiled enough) but the waiting is honestly worse.
I can’t help but wonder what kind of fantastic anime would could get if they got variable length episodes, same day drop, and a focus on a complete story instead of cliffhangers, simplified story (as people forget details), and quite frankly fan service.
I know they do it because it brings in money, and oppai means merch sales and worse. But I lived through before streaming and I don’t have nostalgia for a single thing about it.
A real life troupe I’m not very fond of is to shame people who didn’t want a pet, but showing photos of them loving their pet.
I find that just sad. How it’s used as some form of “haha! Told you! You were wrong!”. No talk about why someone either didn’t want a pet, or was afraid. It’s especially bad if it’s just dumped on someone.
People might not want a pet for many different reasons, but I don’t think “I don’t actually like pets” is a very common one. They might be afraid of them, scared of the responsibility, or simply never have been around pets.
I wouldn’t have gotten pets on my own, but I’ve loved all our pets and I love our two dogs. But it was something I had to overcome, and I think the world would be a better place if people were nicer and kinder about it.
In fact, people should be nicer and kinder to anyone coming around and making a positive change in general.

So the times have caught up with me. I got let go last week. It really sucks.
I will probably put together something in a few days, to see if I can pick up any leads here on the fediverse. The TL;DR is 20+ years of experience, remote work only, done a lot of different software engineering things over the years.
This is genuinely scary, and don’t be surprised if I’m a bit scatter brained at times.
@yon Sorry to hear, but I hope you find a job soon. My little sister is still looking for work for about over a year and going to be two years soon after finishing her PhD.
Of course, it took me three years to find a job, and I got the job offer after three years of looking and appliyng over 300+ jobs. It was emotionally draining being a Rounin (浪人) for three years, although my parents helped me cover the bills.
Thankfully, I have good job security, so something like this won’t happen again.
Rounin (浪人) is a Japanese term that means a student who failed an enterence exam and waiting for another chance or an unemployed person.
@chikorita157 I’m in kind of a bind so getting a job again is pretty much the only plan:( The issue of being an older adult I guess. Upside is that my resume isn’t terrible at least. Though the market isn’t great overall.

Side note: An embedded way to do fedi comments on a different page would be a boon. So I could go to the blog and do all the reading/commenting there. But I only use my fedi account.
Grocery prices are crazy. It has got to be terrible for so many people. I’m catching myself skipping a lot of stuff. Some is truly good, as it wasn’t good for me in the first place. But some are sad because I actually like them and it’s not bad for me.
I need to catch up on my anime and dream away. I think there’s a reason I watch feel good or escapist stuff almost exclusively now.

The thing is prices are never going back down because of corporate greed. The sizes will never return the way they are, and will probably shrink and even decrease in quality..
Yes, the government needs to crack down on shrinkflation and monopolies and break them up. Of course the GQP is going to blame Biden instead of working to create more competition and break up the monopolies/duopolies that would reduce prices.

I feel basic food has reached a point where it’s not profitable anyways. Look at the idiotic amount of subsidies we push out.
The state should run all basic farming and hire the farmers (so they can get 40hr weeks etc). Subsidies that end up permanent just means the state should do it.
Then we could feed everyone basic food. Actually end hunger for real.
