I know corporate overlords wish there could be, but I don't think we're at the point of having someone in there with you to check that you're actually pooping just yet..
So poop at home, then just sit there and catch up on your scrolling on company time..

AI will do that soon.

I guess pass that hurdle when we get to it..

managers can ask employees to donate vacation hours to make up for people who take too long in the bathroom.

They can ask lol

I generally go once in the morning (going from being horizontal in bed to being vertical out of it usually does the trick) then I'm done for the day. But even if I have to go again I can generally hold it at least for a bit unless it's a food poisoning type situation.. ¯\(ツ)

But then, digestive systems vary widely, so all that matters is what's normal for you.

Yeah, they say converting, but that would require significant amount of work and investment of time and resources, which they have no intention of putting in. This is more putting homeless people in prison without having to go through a trial first..

Photo in OP looks like a cabaret act in a fabulous bejewelled gown just come on stage, about to lift that wing to cover the lower part of their face before bursting in to a dramatic song and dance number.. 😂❤

I love how much thought you put in to your posts, your effort is appreciated!

the look on the face is both inviting you in and challenging you to leave

Well put.
I like to think I've perfected the latter part of that look myself.. 😂😂

European made batteries could be 60% less carbon intensive than Chinese, researchers urging Europe to support investments (www.transportenvironment.org)

Onshoring the EV supply chain to Europe would cut the emissions of producing a battery by 37% compared to a China-controlled supply chain, according to new analysis by Transport & Environment (T&E). This carbon saving rises to over 60% when renewable electricity is used. Producing Europe’s demand for battery cells and...

It's funny in a sad sort of way that anyone is still expecting governments to step in and do something, when they already are doing something - letting you know that cutting costs will always be a higher priority than cutting carbon (or other pollutants, or human rights violations). They don't see the tax pot as ours, they see it as theirs, to spend and speculate with as they see fit. What do they care, when it all comes crashing down they have their own golden cushions to fall back on while the rest of society (and life on earth as we know it) crashes and burns.

Silly me, I assumed all people, those in the working class at least, genuinely fear becoming homeless..

Seriously though, what an odd way to frame it, but I guess when you look at the source, it makes a bit more sense that a financial publication will be spreading this kind of out of touch divisive crap, it's not like they're going to be honest about capitalism and the fact that people of all ages are finding it harder and harder to survive under it..

I love how their spread wing creates this plaid/gingham like pattern, and how it looks almost pixilated at the edges, very cool.

They're all great, but that last photo is really stunning.

Man known as ‘eunuch maker’ who streamed mutilations is jailed for life (www.theguardian.com)

Marius Gustavson, 46, was involved in procedures that were ‘little short of human butchery’, UK court heard. The leader of a “grisly and gruesome” extreme body modification network who streamed mutilations on his “eunuch maker” website has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 22 years....

While I don't doubt that there are some people out there who would be willing participants (if with their own issues that are probably better delt with in a safer way), it sounds like at least some of the people he mutilated were manipulated (mentally, physically, it doesn't say, but both are probable) in to agreeing.

DessertStorms,
DessertStorms avatar

That's probably down to one or both being threatened to not go to the police, and/or deep shame of falling victims of the manipulation and fear of being publicly scrutinised for something so personal and traumatic, even though it's not their fault (a lot of people like to think they wouldn't or even couldn't be manipulated by someone, but actually are being manipulated every day, for example by abusers making everyone believe they're nice people "who could never hurt a fly", no one is immune).
It isn't at all unusual for victims of abuse, especially of something so extreme, not to come forward for a long long time, if at all.

(though I second them being a little creepy)

We hear everything.

When a "wife bad" or "women belong in the kitchen" (or whatever the slightly less boomer versions are today) joke is made, when women are objectified and/or comments are made about women's appearance (from the presenter on tv to the woman next to you on the bus), her weight, how much make up she is or isn't wearing, her sexuality (disparagingly describing someone as a lesbian because they have short hair for example), shaming her for looking "easy" or "attention seeking", when dismissing, minimising, and even mocking news of sexual and gendered violence, when victim blaming and saying shit like "she's only accusing the celebrity for money", "if he was so abusive why didn't she just leave?" or "what did she expect, going to a party dressed like that?", and so so many more examples. We hear it all, and we learn who is safe to confide in and who isn't, who will take us seriously if something happened to us, and who wouldn't, who would make us feel better about ourselves, and who will bring us down.

Also it's all well and good to support your kids when things are easy, it's when things get hard that the strength of your relationship is truly tested, and I can tell you from personal experience that even the seemingly strongest bonds can get completely severed if you prioritise your ego over their wellbeing.

Damnit, I meant to go check if I could see anything but got distracted and forgot.. 🤦‍♀️
In bed now, not getting up, try again tomorrow.

Love your photo!

Actually yours is one of my favourite I've seen on the fedi so far, it reminds me of when sunshine breaks through a cloud and creates really sharp rays of light, almost like you're about to hear a booming voice start giving you some commandments lol, so this is the much funkier coloured version of that!

It's definitely something I've always wanted to see, so really jealous of (but happy for) those who saw it and mostly just so annoyed at myself for forgetting last night, really hoping I can catch it tonight still! 🤞🤞 (might have to put a reminder on my phone just in case lol)

E: just had a look on aurorawatch, I don't want to give away my location, but there are some absolutely stunning photos posted from a few miles away, so will definitely make the effort to get out in the garden tonight!

Managed to remember to go look, was outside for about 45 min looking in all directions and saw nothing. :(

Sky was mostly cloudy, though looking straight up was clear and starry, but nothing else, not with naked eye, not with camera at all different settings..

Booo..

Yes, and the lead being buried in OP being the headline (and most of the rest of the article around the paragraph you quoted):

Neuralink’s first implant partly detached from patient’s brain

Some of the threads connecting the chip to the brain began to retract. The Elon Musk-owned company did not explain why

The patient, Noland Arbaugh, underwent surgery in February to attach a Neuralink chip to his brain, but the device’s functionality began to decrease within the month after his implant.

Honestly, that's shockingly low, depressingly even.

As long as people, of all ages, continue to have any faith in the status quo (or in the possibility that "reforming" or regulating it is all we need), even though it is clear (once you look) that they should have none, they will not revolt, or even support a revolt, against it.

I hate to think how much worse things are going to have to get before enough people realise the system was never there to serve them, even if it makes them feel it does sometimes (because they're a man and/or white and/or abled and/or cis and/or hetero and so on...).

they can help counter pro-capitalism ideologues

Only with authoritarian ideals, and while supporting places like China and N. Korea, giving capitalists every reason to mock what the tankies falsely present as communism.

Like, you do you, but personally simply having anti-capitalism in common isn't enough to overlook the oppressive ideas they preach and support (even if indirectly, by using that instance specifically, they actively endorse and condone those ideals), just like having anti-stateism in common isn't enough to overlook the oppressive ideas "an"caps preach and support.

They're telling you who they are, the best thing you can do is listen (and if any of these users really are that chill and not at all tankies like you give them credit for, they should understand why being affiliated with authoritarians is a red flag to most users, and have no problem creating an account on another instance that isn't bringing mass defederation on to itself by brigading and harassing anyone who doesn't agree with their oppressive views)
